Um, does anyone even read the T&Cs? The Hyatt deal has a LOT of T&Cs:

Offer valid for: This Certificate is valid for a total of $100 off a consecutive two-night stay at participating Hyatt Hotels or Resorts listed on this Certificate. Certificate is not valid when quoted or paid room rate falls below $120 per night at most participating Hyatt Hotel or $180 per night at participating Hyatt Resorts and the following hotels: Grand Hyatt Atlanta, Hyatt Regency Coral Gables, Hyatt Regency Fisherman's Wharf, Hyatt Regency Harborside, Grand Hyatt New York, Hyatt Regency San Diego, Grand Hyatt San Francisco, Hyatt Regency San Francisco and Grand Hyatt Washington. Certificate is not valid at Park Hyatt Hotels or Hyatt International locations. Stay/Usage Requirements: Reservations and this discount program are subject to availability at time of booking and must be made in advance by calling Hyatt at 1-888-628-1234 or your travel planner. When making reservations specify the offer code on the face of the Certificate. This Certificate may be applied to the qualifying rate for one guest room, single or double occupancy and does not apply to food, beverage, incidental expenses, service charges or taxes. Additional guests are subject to individual charges. No photocopies, facsimiles or duplications of this Certificate will be accepted. Offer valid only when this Certificate is surrendered at Hyatt check-in. Refunds will not be issued for previous stays. Individual hotels may restrict specific room accommodations for which discount is valid. This Certificate is not valid in conjunction with other promotional or discount programs, Gold Passport or other frequent flyer awards or certificates, group travel, tour packages, government rates or other special rate programs. A maximum of two (2) Certificates may be used on stays of four (4) or more consecutive nights for a total of $200 off the room portion of the stay. Date of stay is determined by the date of check-out. Back to back stays at the same location are considered as only one stay. Normal arrival/departure restrictions may apply. Blackout periods may be in effect during certain seasonal periods, special events or citywide conventions. This Certificate is not negotiable, nor redeemable for cash or other substitutions and will not be replaced if lost or stolen or otherwise destroyed. Credit will not be issued for any Certificate that is not fully used. Gold Passport members will receive points for the applicable room charges actually paid. The difference between the first choice and second choice is the $20 out of pocket, which by definition is the intrinsic savings of the voucher.
I guess it depends on perspective.

Would you consider redeeming Club Carlson points as being out of pocket for a hotel? I can redeem 66,000 CC points for $100.00 deposited into my Paypal account if I wanted to. Or, if I wanted better value, I could use the same amount of points for a Premium Award at a Category 5 hotel.

In both the Discover and Club Carlson instances, money was spent to accumulate said rewards. Therefore, I don’t feel that redeeming $20.00 worth of rewards points for a $40.00 voucher actually costs me $20.00 in the end. It’s just the way that I have allocated the rewards for my personal benefit.
