Taxi from HKIA to Tung Chung

Not sure what to do these days. Extreme lack of blue taxis so HKIA are directing Tung Chung residents to take Red Taxis. But 3 out of 4 red taxis I took recently are having hissy fits when told to go to Tung Chung. They get a ticket allowing them to jump the queue once they make the 3 minute trip back to the airport (whilst probably bringing someone from Tung Chung to the airport) but still, they act like they've been served a massive injustice.

Sure we could queue in the blue taxi queue for 20-30 minutes, but we're then taking taxi's which are the only mode of transport for south Lantau residents which have no choice. They can't even take uber.

What do other Tung Chung residents do? Even the S56 sounds more appealing than an angry taxi driver driving like a maniac because he's been served an incredible injustice...

By its original design, urban (red) taxi is not used for intra-Lantau destinations.

It sounds like you overthink this issue. In fact, Lantau (blue) taxi is exactly designed for this purpose.

Uber is not legal.

S1 is also available.

The S1 isn't bad; it runs frequently enough, though it would be better if there were an express service to Tung Chung.
