HK airport Express

Hi All,

I usually don't take the HK Airport Express but traveling solo I will use it this time.

Going from HKG-Kowloon station.

How safe are luggage from HKG-Kowloon? I won't be able to be with my luggage throughout the route right?

I'm not concerned about kowloon-HKG since I can check in my luggage at Kowloon.

You actually bring your luggage with you onto the train. Each car has luggage racks near the door.

Perfect!

Do you know if there's any discounts or promos going on HK during July?

I'm thinking even if I travel with 3, HK Express maybe cheaper than Taxi.
Time is more valuable to me though so I careless if it's not as private.

Also what's the limit per PAX?

For 3 people, you are basically at break even price between Taxi and AE. All the reading I've done shows that Taxi would very likely be faster, and take you direct to your hotel.

As for luggage limit on the AE, there was no one around to check the baggage, so the limit appears to be how much you can lug with you.

In case you take the AE, check if your Airline allows to check-in drop off luggage in the Kowloon station within 24 hours before your flight. Quite a convenience factor

Yes I plan on staying at W HK so it's right above the Kowloon station.

Can someone confirm if Taxi or AE will be faster? I would assume AE because it's direct. I've been really getting tired of HK taxi's taking the longer route. I also don't find the luggage carrying anyhow safe because I always have 4 bags which does not fit in there trunk. Their solution is that string they hook there trunk to on the bottom of the car.

I checked group rates even for 3 people it's 190HKD vs 230-250 HKD on 15% off taxi.

What time? Friday, Saturday and Sunday mid-afternoon and the traffic can be absolute nightmare, getting from the highway down to the TST exit.

Why did you choose to stay there (not a good location)?

I guess cause it's right above Kowloon station. Trying to stay close within the mTR. It's leisure travel and I have some points I want to use up on a 5 night stay.

Kowloon station is connected to pretty much nothing. If you must burn spg points, the Sheraton is a better option (though still sub optimal because it isn't on the island).

If I were not to use points where would you think is an good option?

Charterhouse, Cosmo, cosmopolitan... If you can snag them for less than $100

GH if you are willing/able to jump through hoops to get the rate that we don't discuss in the public forum (pm me).
