HKG and Macau on a 22h layover - doable?
Hi,
I'm planing a trip from PEK to BKK with a 22h layover in HKG and would love to hear your feedback of my plans:
Arrival to HKG at 11:30 am - head to the city for some sightseeing and the typical HKG attractions.
at around 21:00 head to Macau (anyone knows what's the timetable of the boat? and prices?).
Do some pictures of the casinos (from the outside obviously) and some gambling.
Head back to HKG airport at around 3 am to catch my 7:30 am flight to BKK (what would be the best route from Macau to HKG airport at 3 am?).
Do you think my plan is doable or too tight? it's my first time in the area and I would love to see both HKG and Macau.
Thanks!!

Turbojet runs every 15 minutes between HK Island and Macau. Cotaijet every 30 minutes. You can check their respective website. Turbojet also runs overnight, but less frequent. Coming back from Macau, there are sailings at 3a, 4a and 6a.
I suggest you take the 4a ferry. Then take either the A11 bus (first bus should arrive Rumsey St/Connaught Rd Central (across from Macau Ferry) around 5:30a or so; or the first Airport Exrpess train at 5:50a.
If you take the 3a ferry, there's N11 bus from Macau Ferry on HK Island to airport, but that bus takes longer and you still arrive HKG too early for things to open up.

Given the fact that my flight leaves in the morning would you spend the night in the casinos or are there other night activities in HKG/Macau?

Yes they are. What you're proposing (more than 24 hours without sleep) might be easier if your body was basically on a different timezone. Anyway, no big deal - I'm sure you know how you long you can go without sleep.

Last month I was in Budapest with a friend and had an early morning flight, so after a very long day touring the city we went to the casino until 6 am (he is a gambler - I just wanted the free drinks), I guess I'm not a big sleeper
