Depending on your interests / fitness (and in no particular order):

Go hiking up 3000' mountains or any of the other thousands of kms of trails
Visit Tai O
Go looking at ancient rock carvings
Go spend a day at the beach - maybe windsurfing at Cheung Chau if the weather's right
Visit Kadoorie Farm
Go and explore the Lung Yeuk Tau Heritage Trail
Go rock climbing on Tung Lung Chau
Visit Po Toi Island and have the excellent chilli-pepper squid at Man Kee.
Go mountain biking on Lamma Island
Go birdwatching at the Mai Po Nature Reserve
...

I'd say Po Toi island by ferry from Aberdeen is not the worst choice for a Sunday (It can't get more crowded than the capacity of the very small infrequent ferry). And then a ferry back to Stanley for a Burger on the beach.
By the way, Big Wave Bay is less than 3 km and a hill away from Chai Wan MTR. Don't go on a Sunday.

Is Lamma Island better to visit on Sunday than Tai O? I have to go somewhere on Sunday.

I took out half a day of shopping and put it on the day of my departure. I replaced it with Lamma Island. Modified itinerary below.

Day 1, Friday
Arrive at HKG at 8PM, cab to IC
Where to find dinner around 10pm?
Is there dinner at CX arrival lounge?
Wander around Ave of Stars/photography time
Day 2, Saturday
Chungking mansion for breakfast
Wander around Nathan Road/Ave of Stars/photography time
Lunch at Yan Toh Heen (at IC)
Star Ferry to Central Pier
Ferry at Central Pier 4 to Sok Wu Wan
Explore Lamma Island
Dinner at Lamma Island?
Ferry back to Central Pier
Wander around North Statue Square for Christmas display/photography time
Day 3, Sunday
Star Ferry to Central Pier
Brunch at Tim Ho Wan
Ferry back
Shopping at Harbor City
Recoup at IC
Bus/tram to Victoria Peak
Exploring Victoria Peak
Sky Terrace 428 at sunset +/- 20 mins
Dinner somehwere?
Symphony of Lights
Day 4, Monday
Breakfast at?
Star Ferry to Central Pier
Ferry to Mui Wo
Bus #1 to Tai O
Wander and lunch at Tai O
Bus 11 to Ngong Ping/Tung Chung
MTR to recoop at IC
Dinner at Temple street night markets
Wander around Temple street night markets
Day 5, Tuesday
Shopping at Harbor City
No idea what else to do on this, taking recommendations
Food recommendations welcome too
Flight departs HK at 6PM (CX J, int'l) when should I leave for the airport if I want to explore the lounges/shops?

Comments and critiques much appreciated!

Personally, for a foreign visitor, I'd suggest Cheung Chau over Lamma. Lamma is little quiet place, but Cheung Chau is more "local", more vibrant, with actual fishing boats still in the harbour.

But having said that, you're already going to Tai O on Monday. Why not visit some of the walled villages and heritage trails in the New Territories? Why not Stanley on the south side of HK Island? Why not Wong Tai Sin Temple and Chi Lin Nunnery in Kowloon?

I was not aware of those places until now. I will look into it more. How many of the places you listed can I comfortably include in my day to Tai O if I would like to get back to TST by 6-7pm?

It would be difficult to squeeze in a lot of the places rkkwan mentioned if you're commited to Tai O, as it's quite a ways away and I'd imagine you'd be feeling pretty tired by mid-day (I know I would!).

Wong Tai Sin Temple would be possible though, as it isn't too far from where you're planning to be at night on Monday. Not sure about hours of operation though, might be closed by 5:30pm.

My point is to go to those other places rather than Lamma on Sat. Not to squeeze more on Monday.

That would be bus 21 from Tai O to Ngong Ping and then bus 23 from Ngong Ping to Tung Chung
(Bus 11 goes direct from Tai O to Tung Chung, not via Ngong Ping)

Hi all, thanks for all the recommendations on spots to visit and buses/routes to take. I have modified my itinerary and replaced visiting Lamma on half of Saturday with visiting Cheung Chau. I hope the last ferry back (or, for safety's sake, the one before the last ferry back) isn't too early so I have sufficient time to explore.

I think this will be more of a finalized itinerary. Just two quick questions...

1. Can I buy unlimited MTR passes as a tourist? If so, where?
2. Is it true that once you leave the Sky Terrace 428 viewing deck, you cannot get back in with the same ticket?

Because it's cheap and has a lot of varieties

Do you have recommendations for places near the IC for early breakfasts?

+1 Except for changing money, I can't see any other reason to go into Chungking Mansion.

I go there regularly to eat. Delhi Mess is one of the best Indian restaurants in town.
