Happy to report that I have been pre-upgraded online from standard garden view room to standard OWV. This upgrade was also guaranteed by hotel earlier by e-mail (due to Diamond status and grand opening) but glad to see some initiative taken by the hotel. Also, might have opened up a few award nights for someone else. Stay is in early April...

Congrats! We'll be there in early April as well. So the property reached out to you via email to upgrade you? Does you online reservation now show the new room?

Yes, I reached out via e-mail initially asked for upgrade quotes and that's when they responded with the free OWV upgrade offer.

Apparently standard rooms no longer exist I was told by HH rep. I was going to use my HH free night certificate issued by Barclays bank (UK) but it is not possible as it has to be a standard room.

The rep is wrong. The standard room is KING GARDEN VIEW SUITE and is available online for 80,000 points in March 2018.

I just cancelled an award for 23-28 January 2018 if anyone wants to grab it ... book 5 nights for 320,000 .... now the long wait for my points to be refunded grrrrrrrr

I did HUCA several times but the answer was always the same. To be honest I can't see anything for 80k I used to be able but not anymore for some reason unless is fully booked, but I doubt it.

I recently cancelled my Conrad stay to go stay at the Thalasso instead ... and when my HH points come back, I will redeem them for some nights at the Conrad Maldives.
