Earning Points at the Resort - What Doesn't Qualify
Please note that any charges on third party services will be ineligible for points, e.g:
• Seaplane Transfer*
• Water Sports
• Dive Centre
• Spherique Boutique, Island Breeze or any other shops*
• Service Charge
• T-GST (Tourism Goods & Service Tax) and Green Tax (both government levied)

* The above mentioned outlets/services are third party and are not run by Conrad Maldives, therefore any purchases or expenses for items or services rendered will not be eligible for HHonors points.

Tax Information
• 10% Service Charge (levied by resort)
• 12% T-GST (Tourist Goods & Services Tax, levied by the Maldivian government, current as of Oct 1, 2014)
• Total tax is 23.2%, not 22% as one would think. Example; $100 + 10% = $110, then add 12% on to $110 for a total of $123.20
• A new Green Tax of US$6pp/pn (levied by the Maldivian government) has been introduced starting from 1 November 2015. Points/Redemption bookings are exempt from the tax for up to two guests per room
Note: The US$8pp/pn Bed Tax (previously levied by the Maldivian government) was abolished on Dec 1, 2014

Transfers to Resort
How: Conrad Maldives is a twin-island resort 90km Southwest of Malι International Airport and can be reached in three ways; by seaplane, by a domestic flight followed by a speedboat trip or by private yacht. Please note that all of these transfer options are charged and will be added to your room bill.

Time:
• Guests arriving in Malι on an international flight between 06.00 and 16.00 will transfer to Conrad Maldives by seaplane
• Because seaplanes can only fly during daylight hours, guests arriving in Malι on an international flight between 16.00 and 22.00 will transfer to Conrad Maldives by domestic flight and speedboat

• Guests arriving in Malι on an international flight after 22.00 will require overnight accommodation in Malι and a seaplane transfer will be arranged for them the following morning. The resort can book a hotel for you if requested and add the charges to your room bill at Conrad Maldives. (See below for recommended hotels in Malι and ones the resort can bok for you)
• Guests departing Malι on an international flight before 09.00 will be transferred from the resort to Malι the previous afternoon and will require overnight accommodation in Malι. This can be booked by the hotel for you and added to your room bill charges at Conrad Maldives
• See this post for detailed information on the seaplane schedule, when and how you will be informed of the departure time etc

Seaplane Cost: US$500 + T-GST roundtrip per head. Children aged between 2 and 11 receive a 50% discount

• The resort has a Jetpack. Some pics of the X-Jetpack in action: Pic 1 Pic 2
There is no age limit but for under 12s it's difficult to control as the control arms are long and the pack would be a little big for them. Price is USD225++ per person, per 45mins (includes flying lesson)
• The Water Sports Centre's new addition is a Jetblade! Price is the same as the Jetpack and apparently much easier to ride. Suitable for all ages. Click here for a pic of the Jetblade in action

• Mini Submarine: Unfortunately it has been out of action since 2013 and there is no forseeable resumption of service

Resort check in time - 2PM, guaranteed early check-in can be arranged at the rate of one night's stay prior to arrival
Resort check out time - 12 Noon, guaranteed late check-out can be arranged by booking an additional night's stay

Recommended hotels for overnight stay in Malι:
• Hotel Jen Male (previously Traders Hotel) (4 Star, $300-$450/night)
• Hotel Octave (Hotel Website). Hotel Octave (TripAdvisor) (3 Star, $100-$150/night, Excellent reviews and value for money)
• Extensive list of hotels on Hulhumale (airport) Island
>> Overnight stay in Malι - Resort Booking Service
• Conrad Rangali has contracts only with Jen Hotel (above) and Airport Hotel (presumably the Hulhule Island Hotel) in Male/Hulhule Island, where they can book rooms on behalf of guests.
Note: They used to be able to book other hotels like Hotel Octave (also listed above) but now it seems they have changed their policy and those are now the only two they are dealing with.

Miscellaneous

The property does not share a timezone with Malι -- Feb2017 it's currently one hour ahead, which may make reasoning about transfers easier. When setting your devices to Rangali time, use an equivalent timezone (like Dhaka) rather than manually setting the time, or you'll stop any 2FA working.

That is the norm with any HH award redemption. You get stays and nights.

Not a problem, really. That would only make $406 per person per day before service charge and taxes, which is quite easy to achieve. Have you had a look at their menus and excursion prices?

15,000 points + points
15,000 diamond

Already you're at 90K. At some point it's best to switch to points + miles if you know you're going to go over a bit sounds like?

No, thats not right. The cap is on 100k base points, so for example if you spend $10,000 (eligible points spend), you will get :

100.000 base points
100.000 double points (if that is the promotion)
50.000 Diamond
50.000 points and points
IF you are signed up for the Conrad promotions there are extra weekend bonuses (5000 points) and 2000 points per night, and repeat Conrad stays.
So a 1 week trip can easily earn another 20.000 points
Total : 320.000+

I had a 2 week trip one year, when there was a triple points promotion so earned 400.000+ points :-) Before the devaluation that paid for the folowing year 10 nights :-)

400K is veeeerrrry nice! You could even choose the 2xPoints Room Rate for 500K. Might actually be worth it in that case since that room rate would be subject to the triple points promotion.

So ive reached out and its $370 per way for a couple. Ouch! On the other hand i notice there is an island hopping excursion which stops at other islands for 170 pp. Anyone here been on that tour, reviews on the snorkeling quality?

Talk about extortion! Was the price you got from both resorts the same? And is $370 inclusive of taxes?

I wouldn't say a 10km round trip for almost $400 per person is worth it by any stretch of the imagination. I really don't know why they do that. It just makes them look like they're trying to stick you for all you're worth. Disgusting IMO.

Upgrade prices for the week before Christmas:

Beach Villa to Water Villa - USD400+ taxes per night
Beach Villa to Superior Water Villa - USD500+ taxes per night
Beach Villa to Deluxe Water Villa - USD1,015+ taxes per night

*Taxes are 10% Service Charge and 12% Tourism GST. We would be happy to provide a 30% discount off on the prices mentioned above.

Would those that have stayed before say that Water Villas 315-330 are the most preferable with 330 being on the end and potentially having the best view?

WVs with the worst views (Rangali Island, sunset-facing)

Thanks for those prices. Will add to the Wiki if necessary.

And yes, 330 would theoretically be the best but there's not really much difference between corner WVs as almost all of them have good, unobstructed views.

The exceptions would be with the 325/326/327 group as those three are at an angle. It's a little hard to tell with 100% certainty from the pics I have but my gut feeling is you should be OK if you are in the living room or standing at the sliding doors that open to the deck because the side walls are pretty long in the WVs (longer than they are in the SWVs & DWVs for example) and you shouldn't see anything but lagoon and ocean. However.....
* There's a good chance you'd catch a glimpse of 328 and/or the Over Water Spa if you were say in the middle of the deck (on the deck chairs) but you'd see less and less of 328 and the OWS from the decks of each of the three villas as you moved away from 328 and the OWS, i.e; you'd see less as you moved from villa to villa in a northerly direction from 327 to 326 and then to 325. I guess that in 325 you wouldn't see them from the deck chairs.
* Sitting in any of the pools however in that group of three and you will most definitely see 328 and the OWS, or most definitely at least the OWS will be in view, so avoid this group if possible.

Check out the pics I've just edited below to get a clearer picture. (Right click - 'View Image' to view images in full width)

And from another, better angle.

And this is a nice one from TA that shows the view of the deck and ocean from the sliding doors of a (standard) WV. Click here to view.
