Why cancel the card? If it is a Surpass just downgrade to the no-fee card.

It's not Surpass. I need to cancel one, because I'm applying for another Amex card and I'm at the 4 card limit already.

They limit you to four?

There is a limit, but may vary by person. I definitely hit my limit on more than one occasion.

AXON points

I've booked AXON 4 night stays at both HI Hawaiian Village and HI Waikoloa Village for later this year. Although my reservation states 170,000 per room for a 4 night stay, the Diamond desk said they really only take 145,000 from your account. Why doesn't the reservation show 145,000 Then?

The property receives the full value. If you check your point balance, it's only been reduced by 145K. See above for several similar questions/responses.

Simple answer?
It just doesn't. You can rest assured that only 145k will be deducted.

Don't be rest-assured and double check everything especially since hilton conveniently eliminated redemption lines from activity summaries.

Last month in predevaluation hurry i noticed that they charged $110 after my last redemption. Upon further investigation it turned out that the agent took out 170K instead of 145 and since i had 159K he simply charged me $110 for the remaining 11K. Without mentioning anything to me.
Eventually the charge was reversed and the proper amount taken out.

Way 2 go, Azepine00!
Ritz #949, that's good news, but how do U know? With the combo of devaluation & the end coming in May to 6 pp$ at drugstores, cell phone bills, etc., I have simplified my life by spending more on Starwood Amex, Chase Sapphire, and Carlson Visa. I'm ready to close my HHonors Amex because I don't need 6 credit cards, but I want to be sure.

I am going to use my regular Hilton Amex at CVS on April 31st for what is likely to be the last time after having it for many years, I think since 2001! All good things come to an end eventually!

Even if you use it April 30th (there is no 31st) you are getting 3x points. The changes take effect with any charges after your April statement closes, no matter what month the charge is made.

Sorry to burst your bubble but there is no such thing as April 31.
