Award stay for to be Closed/Going Out of business Hilton?
Just noticed I have a reservation at the Tropicana Las Vegas at the end of the Summer. It is believed that the hotel might close for the wrecking ball in April as you can't make any reservations starting then, let alone for the end of the summer. Everything looks normal in my HHonors account reservation.
So, I know the "policies" for being walked, but of course if for some reason the reservation is not cancelled and in theory I go to check-in and find a pile of rubble, there won't be a front desk to get "walked" from!! So what is the Hilton policy when a hotel is no longer a Hilton group flagged hotel ( I assume it is the same if it leaves or goes out of business/closes for for years!) several months before the reservation.. Are they going to move me to the Waldorf , or because it is a certain number of days out just going to refund my points and send me on my way?

Looks like its becoming a ballpark, I would call Hilton and ask them to move you somewhere better for no extra charge

This could be a good betting situation. And it's in Las Vegas!
Odds on when Hilton will notify you? How they will respond? Where you'll end up?
My guess is they'll just cancel you and return your points sometime this spring.

Is this a FNC? If so, call and have it switched out. If it is points, I would cancel on my own and book elsewhere. I personally would not want to chance it and chase down the points, etc later.

I was probably going to cancel it anyways, but more just curious what will happen, what to expect. I already have something else if I need it. Def not a FNC....

Just an update, got the following email yesterday.... Got moved to the Embassy Suites by the Hard Rock, errr Virgin Hotel!
I called the number and said WT..., I booked a strip hotel with a casino (I guess a Double Tree matches up more with an Embassy Suites, and the point cost was the same). So after a little back and forth, I got moved to not just the Resorts World Hilton, but got the Conrad. They deposited the difference in points so it didn't cost me more, so an even better win if I end up cancelling. But now I might actually use the stay!
