Specifically excluded from the definition of "stay" are the following types of ineligible stays: wholesale/tour operator packages; contracted crew rates; travel agency discount rates, packages exclusively for casino player card holders; Team Member Travel rates, Hilton Family Travel Rates; ...

If HH considers this "Friends and Family" sale equivalent to Team Member of Family Travel rates then there will only be points credit, no stay credit. The offer on the web page is misleadingly worded, to say the least.
So, based on the above t&c, is this "EXCLUSIVE FRIENDS & FAMILY SALE" (this is a sale) that is booked under the hhonors/thankyou link, with a ThankYou description be classified as a non-eligible "Team Member Travel rates or Hilton Family Travel Rates" stay?

Why would this Thank You rates' t&c state it earns points but leave out the stay/nights?

I sent an email asking if the above will count towards nights and stays. This is my "non-response" from Hhonors: "The Thank You Rate Sale offers up to 50% off and is valid at participating hotels worldwide for stays booked between December 5, 2012 and January 7, 2013 and are completed between December 14, 2012 and January 7, 2013, with the exception of December 31, 2012. "

Note that it was called "The Thank You Rate Sale"

Hhonors management needs to clarify this ASAP as I am sure many of you like me are making year-end hotel "stay" decisions.

Many places will be unavailable the longer this thread goes on.

It would be very nice if the OP or a Mod can put a Disclaimer into the 1st post letting people know they may NOT end up earning any Stay Credit if using this promo but will earn the pts

Can a hotel challenge me on this rate

I found this thread today and rebooked aupcoming stay at an overseas Hilton under this rate, which saved me another $30/nite versus the MVP rate. Awesome!

However, I am concerned that at check-in, the hotel may demand be confused, or demand to know who the name of the friend/family member who is a Hilton Team Member. My stay starts Dec 15, and I don't want a nasty surprise at check-in! If I can't tell them a name, will they cancel the reservation and make me pay the full rate? Can any experienced Fters tell me if this is a risk?

Wow, there are some really good deals out there with this special.

I have my 29 stays in for 2012, so the night and stay credit is not a deal killer for me. I had hoped to clock in for a couple of cheap stays in early 2013, and I'll just cancel those no problem.

Thanks again!

I've been an Hhonors member for about 20 yrs and I don't ever remember seeing a promo named like this before (doesn't mean it has never happened, just that I've never seen it) so to my knowledge we're sort of treading on virgin ground for lack of a better metaphor. but it's a bona fide offer from Hilton, the reservation is made via their website. I don't think you have anything to worry about. other than the possible stay/no stay issue being discussed in this thread.

I agree with Notenut. Especially if you have a confirmed reservation that you've got printed out, setting forth the rate you will pay for your stay. I don't see how they can change horses in the middle of the stream, so to speak. I seriously doubt anyone will ask you "who do you know that works for Hilton?" or similar question.

This is my most recent email from Hhonors: "Thank you for your response and I apologize for my misunderstanding. You will not receive credit on the room rate. You will receive stay and night credit as well as credit for the incidental charges during your stay."

This makes no sense

Well, at least they apologized for the misunderstanding that followed . I have a stay on Friday night (first possible night under the promo, and I'm checking out around 4AM for what it is worth) so I will update after whatever happens happens. I don't need the night credit, and getting the points would be nice of course, but as long as they honor the rate without any hassle, I have no complaints.

Thanks. Looking forward to seeing an update.

Me too. It would be nice to have the points, but I saved about $400 between a Conrad property and a Hilton property, so I'm a happy camper. ^

To anyone who books this rate and finds out they didn't get a stay credit, I would recommend calling Customer Service and making a stink. Play dumb and say you had no idea it wouldn't be counted as a stay, nowhere was it indicated in the small print, any you fully expect a stay credit to be given. Personally, if it weren't for what I have read on this thread, I would have no idea there was even a possibility of not getting a stay credit. If you protest vehemently enough I suspect you'll get thrown some kind of a bone; a "good will" stay credit or some extra Hilton points.
