No Points On Stays When Redeeming UR - Learned The Hard Way

I saw the Priceline Thread but nothing on Chase UR. Mods move me if need be.

This is more a heads up than a rant.

Chase may tell you that you earn points for HH stays but you don't according to HH T&C.

I never gave it a second thought redeeming UR points for rooms as the rate was pretty close to the HH site rates. Just like when I play cards in Vegas, I was wrong.

Booked my rooms, paid with UR, called the hotel to add my HH#. No signs of any issues.

Hotel confirmed reservation and HH#, did not upgrade room (did not expect to be), did get LOTS of water and club access.

When I got my bill, I knew what was coming as it was as bare (no charges, no payments, no nothing) as the highways in Dallas when the Cowboys played on Sunday (before Jerry destroyed the team). Nothing showed but parking charges.

Since returning, I have learned that although others have reported success with Priceline stays, at least at this Hilton, not gonna happen.

No points, no stay credit and according to the lady on the phone, I was lucky they even recongized me as a HH member much less a Diamond. She had the tone in her voice that I should have been given a crate in the loading dock and not a room (some poetic license taken to add excitement to a dull T&C thread).

Long story short, you can be king of the world but if you use Chase UR, you are less than Silver in HH's eyes.

Thanks so much for this post, OP.

I feel as though the title of the thread is misleading. It should be changed to no HHonor's points earned on an Ultimate Rewards award booked stay.

It's 100% clear in the terms and conditions that stays like this are not eligible for points credit. They do however give status benefits, and that should include the 1000 points Diamond MyWay.

Not an award stay. It was a purchase using my ur points which i never thought of as an award stay as the money came from another company and NOT HH points. I earn miles and upgrades on airfares and never gave it a second thought on hotels.

I asked ur if I would get points since they were booking the room and they said yes. Before anyone says anything, no I did not check T&C for HH as I (until recently) thought of ur as a travel agency not a discount reseller.

I know I messed up but I wanted to give a heads up to anyone else who may have been of similar mind

Correct it is in T&C but I never thought to check as it appeared to me on the face value to be a travel agency booking my room. I missed it.

As it stands now they are saying no welcome bonus, no points on my charges and I was not to have received any upgrades or club access (I did)

Yes it is in the rules. Yes I missed it. Yes I think it stinks. Yes I won't be firing off a ten page email threatening to take all ten of my stays in 2012 away from Hilton and yes I will damn sure make diamond at Hyatt again no matter how many torturous weekend antiquing trips my wife insisits we do along the way.

Well, you should be entitled to your welcome points as I mentioned above.

Thank you for being reasonable about all this btw.

OP, thanks for the info.
I've been considering getting an UR card; don't have one yet.

Your welcome.

I would not want to discourage anyone from getting a Chase Ultimate Rewards CC, just a heads up that Hilton won't count the stays or points. This would have relevance for someone in the hunt for points or stay credits.

Overall I think the UR program is great. It just is frustrating when you miss something like this.
