A reminder that AXON awards, which were restored temporarily late last month, go away forever a week from today.

Also a reminder that if you want to make any changes to existing AXON's for future dates, you have to change by February 15th.

Finally, be really careful when changing reservations. Honors tells you that they will not have to redeposit existing certs. But that is false. They actually double deducted when I made a change and now it is a big mess trying to get the points reinstated.

I really wish Hilton would fix their IT systems and tell the truth when making redemptions and looking at everyone's account and getting credit where credit is due.

resort fee?

Does anyone know if you have to pay the resort fee when booking with cash and points? Staying at Embassy Suites San Juan.

5th night free stealth departure

Bad news is in. Bali HGI had a standard reward of 5,000. 5th night free for elite. Now only "premium room rewards" (at 12,000 for low demand nights) are available and, as you can see by the description, they are not standard room rewards and, thus, don't attract the 5th night free.

Conrad Bali calls their rates "standard," and applies the discount.

Bali Hilton has "standard" and applies the discount.

Sample stay was 15JUL17 to 20JUL17

All that happened is that they ran out of standard rooms. No need to get all dramatic about it.

To be fair the Hilton website isn't working at all for flexible dates. They show 100k+ but then when you click on it standard rooms are sometimes available for less. Not sure where the IT glitch is, but it isn't good.

Search shows standard room rewards available, room availabilty calendar shows premium room rewards as lowest points rate (tried some hotels with same result, but am not sure if not this did not change also within the past two hours temporarily, I thought I saw also standard room reward rates not available all three Munich Hiltons as result of the search an hour ago and now again available at the same hotels).

See example here for different results depending on search method for Munich, Germany, March 17th/18th:

Yes, this is happening with all Hiltons. Has made the flexible search tool completely useless right now. A technical glitch, a very embarrassing technical glitch, I would say.

Yesterday and today when I click on "pay with points and money" like as shown in screenshot above nothing happens as it's not a hyperlink. Is there another way to pull up the sliding bar of points v. money?

Continue to the next page as if you are booking just with points and on that page you will see the slider showing the "pay with points and money" option. It is not a hyperlink, but a slider.

There are still 5K and 10K maximum hotels, they are just not called category one and category 2 anymore.

How do I find them? I looked at two hotels that were only 5K redemption hotels (HGI Bali and HGI Dandong). They both went from 5,000 to 21,000 points.

Is this the norm now?

yeah, I noticed it with another previously 5k hotel :-( These are ludicrous overnight increases.

You are looking at premium room redemptions now. If you can find a standard room redemption, it will still be 5000 points. I previously checked the HGI Bali and found standard redemptions if you include accessible rooms or if you put in dates for February. I just looked at Dandong and they have a standard room available for 5000 everyday from now until June 5. If you use the flexible dates search, it will show premium rooms at 21000, but if you click on the ones that say 21000, it will bring up the standard rooms at 5000.
