Talking Photos resized

Apologies to anyone dealing with the large pics in prev posts, now corrected.

First snorkel today, we saw 2 separate Spotted Eagle Rays almost immediately after setting off from SRWV.

Also, more Yellow Margin and Titan TFs, 2 Moray Eel, Potato Cod and a glum & prehistoric looking grayish purpled Orange Spotted Emperor.

Drifted down to Villa 220-ish, will probs do the reverse snorkel this pm as current should have switched with in coming tide, it was quite low at 9am.

Any one know if 4pm Tea at Mandhoo is free if you're staying in a RWV????

Not free. You'd have to sneak-snorkel up there, grab a cookie and slink back into the water if you wanted it free...

Aye not free, $36 for the two of us, but very pleasant, probs going again 2moro eve if we get going early enough on our schedule of 2x 1 hour snorkels (although this pm's was a 100min snorkel! More on that in a minute FootyFan)

This eves sunset from the end of the pier/jetty of the RWVs. Perfect after 4pm tea @ Mandhoo and 5pm drinks @ Vilu, and a 6:30pm cocktail @ Rangali happy hour.

Now out on the deck of RWV, been watching horizontal fork lightning in distance and a full moonrise over the ocean.

Talking Diving - or lack thereof

So as I've mentioned, I'm submitting a review of my stay to Raffles @ Headforpoints.

As part of my review I was hoping/intending to comment on the diving from the Conrad.

I've visited South Ari Atoll a few times and dived many of the well known sites + done over 40 dives in Maldives, so I wasn't as desperate as I might of been.

So in short I won't be diving this trip, due to.....
The sightings of Mantas has been limited, esp in last couple of weeks but there's a few weeks left of the season yet.
The snorkelling has been so good on the house reef. (See next post for yet more pics to bore you with)
Me and my wife can enjoy the reef together.
This fits in with a relaxed schedule
I would like to comment on the staff at the Dive Centre, they have been approachable, honest, friendly, incredibly helpful to us and other guests. I'd have no hesitation in going diving with them if there was 80%+ chance of seeing Mantas.

Talking Yet more snorkelling pics....

Don't worry only 2 more days snorkelling photos to clutter these pages with, then we sadly leave this amazing place...

All these were taken on this pm's 100 min snorkel (1:50pm-3:30pm), mainly around the drop off.

Titan Triggerfish (Another daily sighting like the YMTF)

Anemone Fish (for you Finding Nemo fans)

Flock of Parrot (or should that be a plague of 200+ Parrotfish?)

Yellow Backed Fusiliers??

Porcupine Puffer Fish

Dog Nosed Puffer Fish?

hawksbill Turtle (yes again, in same spot as yesterday off Mandhoo, he didn't hang around this time tho, only got this one photo)

Spotted Eagle Ray (one of 3 that buzzed us)

Oh and we saw another white tip reef shark in the murky depths (of about 20ft)
Right off to bed for some much needed kip!

After following the thread a bit more closely the past couple of weeks I started to miss the Maldives - a lot. I really do judge every other holiday destination against it and they just don't stack up. We were supposed to be going to Mauritius in December with our new baby but we discussed it, threw our plans out the window and booked to come back to the Maldives instead! Can't wait!
