Quite a bit of standard availability in PHX this weekend

I am not going but in case someone is. I gotta give Hilton their props on that.

^ although the paid rates are still three digits. I guess that is the legal maximum for the area; cf. NYC Times Square, New Year's Eve:

$2999 is not three digits.

As a Phoenix resident, I can't wait for this to be over.

I think Davie355 is saying that PHX rates are in the triple digits, unlike Times Square on NYE at nearly $3K.

As another PHX resident, I'm very ready for it to be over as well. I work downtown and the influx of traffic/congestion is unwelcome. I'll get over it though.

That is nothing. I saw a $4,999 rate in Times Square.

For the Super Bowl, PHX has a more diverse supply since the hotels are spread out of the valley instead of a central point like Times Square. But still, I give them credit where credit is due and I took advantage of the situation in FLL a few years ago.

You really took the air out of his estimate.

I looked a couple of weeks ago and actually found a Hampton Inn that still had rooms for 30,000 points per night. Crazy. If only I'd had points to book it

What's going on in Phoenix next week?

There are no rooms available within a 40-mile radius of the city for next week. No Diamond guarantees. Nothing.

After the superbowl and Phoenix Open -- but before spring training -- there isn't much going on. Spring Training usually starts in early March

Yes very good question, I was barely able to snag a room at the HGI by the airport, I'm worried if I have to extend my stay I'll be SOL

The OP must have encountered a fleeting search error but Hilton is showing plenty of availability next week. Searching for Phoenix, AZ (not PHX) there are 35 properties within 15 miles. Of those 35, this is how many are available night by night:

Sunday, 34

Monday, 25

Tuesday, 7

Wednesday, 18

Thursday, 23

Friday, 31

Saturday, 29

And for the full period, 2/8-2/15: 12 properties. Broaden that to 40 miles and 18 are available.

This level of availability seems perfectly normal for major U.S. cities in a seasonally busy month.
