Arrow Hampton by Hilton Glasgow Central {GBR}

I read about this in a news article a few years ago, then it seemed to go all quiet.
I was just searching for a hotel in Glasgow there and noticed it has appeared.

"This new hotel will soon be joining the Hilton Worldwide Portfolio of Brands but is not yet accepting reservations. It is scheduled to open in March 2016."

Website: http://hamptoninn3.hilton.com/en/hot...CHX/index.html
Address: 140 West Campbell Street, Glasgow, G2 4TZ, United Kingdom

Has anyone been near the building? Can't say I've noticed it.

No HHonours category listed as far as I can see.

Good news to have another new Hilton property in Scotland ^

I passed it last week and a bed delivery was being taken in.

Makes sense why some of the Glasgow properties went up a category recently. The HGI & Grosvenor are 5s IIRC so it's probably going to be 3 or 4.

Scotland is well and truly on the Hilton radar at the moment which is fantastic.

It's directly opposite a multi storey NCP, so parking shouldn't be an issue.

Looked at the site in August and there didn't seem to be much going on, did notice that the builder "Thomas Johnstone" we're working on a hotel conversion across the road at the time, which looked more active. I imagine they will have finished that now and moved workmen onto the Hampton.

I imagine it will compete with the holiday inn express theatreland, which to be fair is quite well run.

It's also not far from the soon to be Doubletree "Glasgow City Hotel"

It's the conversion of the "Glasgow City Hotel" which I think may have been the old Thistle....

There was talk of a Doubletree at Custom house quay a few years ago, but think that one may have stalled;

Yeah it's the old Thistle Hotel up beside the Cambridge Street car park.

Apparently since the Thistle name was removed occupancy has fallen through the floor.

oh, that's good news! it used to be a nice hotel about 15 years ago, but had had no money spent on it since.

With an on site car park and central location I can see it taking a lot of business from the Glasgow Hilton!

With a bit of luck it may encourage them to up their game a bit which won't be a bad thing.

The Thistle car park is an experience when busy. IIRC it also has a swimming pool.

On the subject of the Hampton though the website is now saying April for opening rather than March.

This is what Thomas Johnstone were working on prior to the Hampton

It's just down the road on the opposite side of the street.
Looks to have been done to a high standard, let's hope the Hampton conversion gets similar!

I'd rather they take their time and do a good job rather than rush it and cut corners!
