[Expired] Get 1000 bonus points for trying out Digital Key between November 6 and December 31, 2015. Must have iPhone 4S or later that is running iOS8 or later or Android 4.3 or later (Bluetooth Low Energy enabled phones only), have the ability to connect to the Internet and have the most recent version of the HHonors app downloaded. Once you have loaded your key, an internet connection is not required (discovered by FT-member Keeton). Most new digital key users will need to stop at the front desk upon arrival to activate their digital key. If you have a choice between a smartphone and touchpad, and you use the touchpad to check in, the key will be on that pad, not on your phone.

2500 Bonus Points for using Digital Key?
Stumbled across this prmo where you get a bonus of 2.5k points just by using the digital key at selected hotels.
Apparently, you can get an extra standard keycard from the reception (if you need) and still get the 2.5k points, so no harm trying it out just for the bonus .points.
Not as good as the 5k bonus promo, but still better than nothing!

It just so happens that I have an upcoming a stay here. There is now a clickable link in this stay's line item in my Reservations list, stating that Digital Key is available.
I haven't seen it before so I don't know if it shows up because I opted into the Digital Key from the App or if it is just coincidence.

I agree, I read the stuff on their website just before. It looks great until I saw the list of participating hotels. What a ridiculous way to publicize it. There should be something very obvious right at the top in large letters that says something like "Bear with us while we roll this out but it's only available at ONE hotel right now".

Sometimes bonus points offers get extended. Remember the 1000 bonus points for making reservations via the iOS app? It stayed active for months after the deadline. This year's double points spring offer only got better when it was extended into summer, with all hotels participating now.

There are more new Hamptons opening than any other Hilton brand. About half of the Hilton Family hotels are Hamptons. The recently opened ones I stayed at in the past two years all had the new lock type (NFC instead of magnetic stripe). I don't know if that's enough to qualify for Digital Key entry, but if so, certainly a number of Hamptons will be going to offer this feature I guess.

I've used the digital key for my last 3 stays at the Hilton Old Town Alexandria. It works better than expected. It's nice to be able to walk into the hotel and go directly to my room. Helpfully, two waters and the breakfast certificates have been delivered to the room in advance.
The elevator requires an unlock to press the floor key. My first experience was that the app took a bit too long to initiate this unlock, but more recent experience has been good. I've gotten the 2500 point credit in each instance, which has been very welcome.
