No promo is not good news, takes the fun out of loyalty even more so, especially for Europe based folks without fancy credit card bonusses and certificates.
There was no promo in October 2012.

No promo can be a good thing in the long run if people swap hotels. Hilton probably wants to know the effect of promotions on occupancy/room rates. Can't blame them for that.

I'm switching to Marriott in February. They have a decent targeted points promotion and a very generous delta skymiles promotion.

With the number of non-participating hotels lately, I am surprised anyone is surprised. They probably know they have already upset many of us frequent customers with the downgrade in internet at many properties. I just hope they don't do a devaluation in any major way also...

The non-participation issue is a US one, in EMEA only few opt out.

Response from Diamond Desk on what to expect for a promo:

"At this time, we have not been provided details regarding the next quarterly promotion for HHonors members. Please be sure to check under 'Offers' online at www.hiltonhhonors.com for the latest information regarding hotel and HHonors promotions. "

I typically do this anyways and find the nearest Starbucks/Dunkin.

That's what I am thinking too. With 1/3 of all Hilton hotels op-out last promotion, they probably generated more negative press than positive one with that promotion. If the next promotion has a 50% op-out list.. it would look really bad.

Tl;dr version - mods should take the question mark off the end of this thread title.

But the targeted offers hold promise.

Targeted promo = a whole lot of angry people (who didn't get the promo) once someone posted they got the targeted promo here.

Yeah, I was just trying to be optimistic. Across the board (airlines, hotels) with spend and utilization levels back up, it's getting clearer that money, not loyalty, talks. And unfortunately I don't have as much of it as some folks.
