Postings of speedtest.net / Ookla results at Hilton Properties

Minimum specifications of 'Stay Connected' (the Hilton Worldwide Guest Internet program) as of 2017:
  • Complimentary access to the hotel’s standard internet connection offering must be provided to all Hilton Honors members with Blue, Silver or Gold level status who have booked through an approved channel. At a minimum, the member must be able to maintain simultaneous active connections on three devices.
  • Premium Internet access should be made available to guests at prices that are competitive with prevailing charges in the local market. The recommended maximum daily charge for Premium Internet access (wireless) is US$6.95. Diamond Hilton Honors members who have booked through an approved channel enjoy complimentary access to the hotel’s highest speed (Premium) internet connection offering. At a minimum, the member must be able to maintain simultaneous active connections on three devices.
  • Minimum 6 Mbps download/upload (with Premium access) and 2Mbps download/upload (with Standard access).
  • Complimentary and Premium wireless Internet access must be available throughout the hotel.
  • Wireless Internet access must be installed in all guest accessible interior areas of the hotel to meet a minimum signal strength of -65 dBm (RSSI) on both the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands with a signal to noise ratio (SNR) of at least 30 dB.
  • The hotel is not permitted to apply total data consumption caps on a per user or device basis, throttle speeds by application type, or block/limit access to application types that lead to high bandwidth consumption rates.
  • All hotels must set individual bandwidth user caps which enable a minimum of 2 Mbps download/upload or higher for Complimentary Internet access and a minimum of 6 Mbps download/upload or higher for Premium Internet access and have sufficient bandwidth to deliver to that standard. The bandwidth user caps for the Premium offering must always be at least three times higher than the Complimentary offering (example: a 9Mbps download/upload Premium cap setting would be paired with a 3 Mbps download/upload or less Complimentary cap setting).
  • Hotels may offer wired access in addition to wireless.

I think what you need to do is select: Share > Image > Copy. Then paste the result in Flyertalk, using the Insert Image button, like:

Test taken at Hilton Rotterdam [Netherlands], basic speed, free (at least on weekend nights). Test taken while streaming music on another device - don't know if it had any impact.

Hilton london metropole

HILTON LONDON METROPOLE
Almost unusable and a good enough reason to stay at other hotels
Not a 1-off degradation as last stay similarly unusable too ! !
Maybe a downside of London Metropole having 1050 rooms so 900 rooms occupied tonight at 93% occupancy

DOWNLOAD / UPLOAD / PING
0.59 Mbps / 0.10 Mbps / 154ms

As above to include *.png screenshot
Go to www.speedtest.net run (OOKLA) speedtest
+ On output screen
o Click SHARE
o Click on EMBED (of the four options on returned screen line)
o Click COPY (be aware copy to clipboard above needs editting)
+ on FT
o Click INSERT IMAGE (the yellow square box )
o Paste the speedtest URL from clipboard
(be aware copy to clipboard above needs editting I use notepad BUT you can edit after pasting into "insert image" input box)
o Check paste includes only second url part ... starts http:// & ends /nnnnnnnn.png
(which sits between the two IMG bracketted command words)

Side note - I'm really curious why this connection is routing to KCI from only "~150 miles" away. This hotel is in Canada, 800 miles away. Seems fishy (yet still one of the better connections in recent memory).
Same here... Kansas City from St. John NB

Maybe it's because of the current exchange rate... you get ~20% more internet for your dollar.

I'm intrigued by this only because, generally speaking, Canada tends to have stricter data privacy laws than the US. The fact that Hilton is seemingly forcing their guests' internet traffic through the US at certain CA properties, perhaps hidden in the fine print of the T&C's, is surprising. I have to wonder if they're violating any Canadian laws with this practice.
