Wow this property is seriously overpriced as a Category 7. 60,000 points works for a 130 euro room works out to like .26 cents per point. A horrible redemption.

I booked this hotel for April on a cash and points rate of 20k pts + 65 Euro, which I thought was pretty good.

Hotel room rates aren't city bus tickets. Prices change all the time. Anybody can find a date with some rates giving lower CPM than others.

I wonder if this hotel will give Diamonds breakfast? The location seems good, so might be worth a try.

I agree that's a nice deal. Not offered on my dates.

Thanks for the incredibly insightful comment. Do you have some basis for suggesting this hotel deserves a Cat 7 rating? Because that's what you're saying.

I'm deciding between this and the Renaissance Barcelona (a few blocks over in Passeig de Gracia). Either one will be a cash booking. This will be for two of four nights in Barcelona - the other two nights will be at the W. This hotel appears a little cheaper and newer and more contemporary than the Renaissance. Both get good reviews on Expedia/TripAdvisor.

Hi,

If you are speaking of the Renaissance in Pau Claris/Consejo de Ciento, it was also refurbished a short time ago.
Before joining Marriott and Hilton, the Renaissance(Diplomatic) was a sensibly better hotel than the Doubletree(Alexandra) and I guess it is still like this.

Hi Football Fan,

I cannot see how they could not.

I have not stayed in this property but I stayed twice last year at the Doubletree Emporda(Girona) that also has joined Hilton recently, and a nice breakfast was offered + generous upgrade.

As per previous reply, the free breakfast for Diamond guest and 2nd person in room is a published benefit, and I have never had to query this or ask to receive it, at any Doubletree -- anywhere.

I stayed here before it became a Doubletree. It was a very pleasant and well located hotel.

I was hoping to stay here in June with my husband & 2 boys, but they refused to allow 4 in a room. What is the point of having a sofa bed in the Jr Ste but refusing to allow 2 children to sleep on it?

Will be staying here for 4 nights mid june, booked 40k points per night. Will provide review shortly after.

Anyone suggest I should send out an email in regards to upgrade rooms or wait until check in?

I stayed one night back in March. Nice hotel, great location. As a Gold I was upgraded to a corner deluxe king. I had an early flight in the morning so I didn't get to try the breakfast, but they did pack me a lunch to go.

40K per night seems high. What is the daily rate? When I stayed it was only 125 euro.
