Towers of Waldorf Astoria or Waldorf Astoria?

Hi,

The free night certificates that came with my Citi HH Reserve card expires in Feb. The only city I will be visiting before the expiry date is New York. I am thinking of The Towers of Waldorf Astoria or Waldorf Astoria. Any suggestion on which one to pick?

Or should I try any of these other hotels - Hilton Times Square, New York Hilton Midtown, DoubleTree Suites Times Square? I was definitely gonna go with WA, but after reading some of the reviews, it sounds like the $500+ rates are more for the history than the room/amenities? Now I am wondering if I should choose any of the newer Hilton hotels.

Thanks.

Numerous threads in this forum on this topic. I'd go with DT TS. WA is increasingly worn-out.

Depends upon where you want to be. I would go with the Conrad, doubletree times square, or Millenium Hilton, I would not pick the Waldorf.

Can basic rewards/citi reserve certs be used at the towers? I didn't think that was allowed. (?)

I would be surprised if you could because you can't use points to reserve the Towers, if you use a certificate you will be stuck with the crappy Waldorf Astoria entry level rooms.
