The sweet spots in the new devaluation?
Okay I am sick of the whining about the new devaluations... Obviously it sucks. But can anyone join me in compiling a list of the new sweet spots in the program (ie. the category 1 hotels for 5000 points; hotels where price and new category are not fully aligned, etc.)? Surely there has to be something out there, right?

This is like price of a gallon of gas increased to 5$ from $3.60 and than getting 50 cents off for pumping 5 gallons.
The devaluation is too severe !
I just checked and there was no free 5th night to be found. you book 5 nights and it will cost you the same number or more points than what it is now. the 5th night is added to all 5 nights.
For example there will be some Hampton Inns that will cost you 60k points a night soon, even if they call it free 5th nights, it is still worse than what it is now.

This is exactly what I will be looking at carefully over the next few days whilst I try to work out whether I'm bettter to spend now or whether any of the new points rates may work in my favour.
Imo this whole thing depends on the Category points brackets and how genuine they are. If it's based on peak season/demand then presumably places like London will always be the top end. For example a number of London properties are now Cat 7 (e.g. Metropole, DT West End etc.):
Cat 7 = 30-60k, if they're genuinely going to be available at 30k per night with a 5th night free then it's a potential bargain... I don't see it though.
On the plus side there are some Cat. 1s in the UK.

Just to add another example:
Cardiff, Wales, currently Cat 7 will be dropping to Cat 6.
So it's currently 50k a night, but changing to 30-50k... as I say for me it depends what these bracket ranges actually come to mean in reality.
