Gold and Diamond members receive a $13 per person room charge credit. Solo travellers asking nicely can receive a $26 credit by having the room listed as double occupancy. (or just book for two)

Credit can be used at most on-property venues except Chill'm. Gratuities cannot be applied against this credit. You are not obliged to apply this credit against breakfast.

Breakfast buffet costs $26. A take-away breakfast is available at the food court for $13.

Resorts fees are NOT added to award stays using all points.

Has anyone had any recent stays at the Tropicana as a Gold or Diamond HHonours member?

I am opting for a cheaper stay in Vegas soon and wouldn't normally choose this property, but if benefits are still being recognized I may jump on it.

Thanks!

I gave the place one last try (really out of morbid curiosity).

Got no-graded to a musty room with a tub that wouldn't stop loudly leaking through the night. Directly next to elevators. "Ding" noise and shaking walls all night.

Breakfast in the little snack bar has some good egg-muffin sandwiches, but it's just a hint-reminder of the nice buffet on the other side of that wall that I used to get free as a Diamond. It's horribly inefficient process to get simple items.

Some electronics in room didn't work.

It's a $45 roadside hotel. For a drive-through stop, I'd stay there again if I needed to, provided rate wasn't bad. For a Vegas "Vacation" or if I had my fam with me, I'm hitting a different property.

Elara is fun with a good Strip position, Paradise ES or HGV Flamingo are good when traveling with family, HGI South is clean and quiet and cheap.

I haven't been to SLS. Probably should before definitively saying "Hilton has no good strip properties".

They will give suite upgrades to diamond's but it's a YMMV situation and the inventory has to be there.

Breakfast is awful (was a nice buffet for diamonds) and I'm not sure if diamond's still get use of the lounge for checkin/out or not. They are no longer giving diamonds status in the Trop Plus program either. Last I heard diamond's were still getting charge the resort fee.

Their treatment of diamond's went downhill fast. When they opened diamond's were getting gold status in Trop Plus, a full buffet breakfast, decent upgrades and the resort fees waived.

I sure wouldn't there just because your a Hilton diamond, unless you get a great deal and would stay there even without status. A lot better choices in and outside the Hilton brand in Vegas. I'd chose one of the HGVC properties and just pay for breakfast, you'll get a nicer room for the $.

......
But (as the management keep telling us) we diamonds prefer this breakfast coupon to the buffet

I've yet to meet a diamond admitting it.

Of course they will say that, it's all too easy to suggest anything else.

Management actually told you that???? Next thing they'll be telling diamonds is that they are charging the resort fee now because we diamonds prefer it

The Trop has been sold. I do not think current management cares. Why would they?

Current management apparently cares about something. Approx 2 weeks ago, I received an email, from Arik Knowles, Vice President of Hotel Operations, The New Tropicana Las Vegas.

"...Thank you for providing feedback regarding your previous stay with us at The New Tropicana Las Vegas. We are committed to exceeding our guests’ expectations, and your valuable feedback concerning the variety of gym equipment assisted us in identifying an area for improvement.

As we continue to strive to improve our services, we would appreciate you providing the reason for your low rating of our variety of gym equipment and include any recommendations on how we could make your experience in our Fitness Center more enjoyable.

We appreciate your business and look forward to providing a better experience for you on your next visit..."
, with a "Tell us more" link.

Here is the odd part - that review as written more than 1 year ago, our last stay was in late December 2014.

I believe I mentioned something about the limited equipment availability in the review.

Well that was a timely response. One year. Perhaps Arik Knowles, Vice President of Hotel Operations is with Penn National (the new owners) or if he is with the former management and he will be gone within the next few months. I guess, better late than never for getting proper gym equipment.

The "new" Tropicana is not "new". It is a motel/hotel built in the 1950's. I hope Penn National can fix this place up (better than the former management).

Old article: http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articl...or-360-million

The former owners took a huge loss on this sale. HUGE! Good luck to the new owners!

Seeing the new owners are Penn I will DEFINITELY not be staying there again. They really screwed some people over in my city.

I wouldn't plan on them doing any major renovations. All the casinos I'm familiar with that they own don't have hotels. They control two casinos here in Ohio and they own the one that is only a couple miles from my house and I despise the company so much I will drive across the border to Windsor to go to Caesar's or to Detroit to MGM or Greektown.

No. I stayed there a couple weekends ago using my citi certificate (I know not a great use of it but the trip I originally planned to used it on got cancelled and this was going to expire it so it would have been wasted otherwise) and wasn't charged the resort fee.

I have never paid a resort fee on any award or citi certificate stay at any Hilton

Just completed a 3 night stay. Booked a suite in club tower and I wasn't disappointed. Checkin queue was empty but as a diamond I was asked to go into Diamond lounge for checkin. That was a joke, they call that a lounge? I waited for about 10 mins as one women processed another diamond that used every reason in the book to get a free upgrade. That didn't work.

After checkin I was told to use cafe for free continental breakfast or I could go to buffet for reduced rate. Tried buffet and it was good but not as big as one would have thought. Tried continental free breakfast and honestly it was enough for me. No it's not huge but selections of eggs and other items were fine for me.

Room was clean and in good condition. One thing is that the room has no Landury bags. I called and ask for some to be brought up never happened. Left a note for bags with a 10 dollar bill for maid, money was gone but no bags.... I didn't make a big deal about it bc I always have a few extras on me.

Otherwise it's a prime location property but you get what you pay for.
