Question about Hilton Points with UK Hilton Visa

Dear community,

short question about the Hhonors Visa Card and the fact about collecting points...

every € get 2 Points...

So this means that i need to spend 40.000€ with my card toget 80.000 Points aka two nights in a cat 6. hotel...

so hhonors visa card seems to be not good ? indeed a very bad value or did i understand this not right ?

any better ideas to collect hhonors points with a visa card or sth?
With kind regards

No, you got it right (assuming that your euro to HHonors point rate is correct) and in my opinion, the HHonors Visa is good only as a back for places that don't take Amex. Assuming you are based in Europe and that HHonors Amex is unavailable to you, collecting HHonors points without actually staying in Hiltons, and with only a HHonors Visa, is a long process.

Bottom line is take the Visa sign up bonus of whatever it is (40-50,000 iirc) and add that to your spending and you will have maybe 125,000 points which is nearly enough for a four night GLON award which cost 34,000 points per night for category 6 properties.

Of course, the German DKB Visa card has Gold as its base line, just for taking out the card. Then if you can manage € 20,000 turnover in a year (at least that's how it was in 2012, 2013 might be different), you'll be Diamond the year thereafter.

Whilst it might not be very good for collecting points, I find its status aspects quite attractive.

The card is available outside Germany, but you do need a German bank account.
