Q3 triple your stay promo calculation

Stayed at the Conrad BKK last week, and got my points posted yesterday

2012 Q3 TRIPLE YOUR TRIP SYSTEMWIDE OFFE - Conrad Bangkok 21,496

Base Points - Conrad Bangkok 16,123

Now looking at previous entries, I would have expected the bonus points to be base points *2 i.e. 32,246 not 21,496.

Any ideas while I await HHonor's response ?

The triple is just for weekend stays. For week day stays it's 2x. You hold any elite level? Diamond's get automatically 50% bonus.

So if you stayed on a weekend this equals 12092.25 base points (unlikely), or if on a week day 21496 base points.

Yeah, diamond now, just don't remember all my previous stays being weekend ones, and they were posted at base points *2

Can you give here a breakdown of your expenses, and points received? It could be that 3x points apply only to room rate, not incidentals...

The triple your trip bonus may be a mix of weeknights (2x) and weekend night (3x) rates and expenses.

Example from the HHonors site itself:

Example:

US Net Folio: $1,038.38 x 10 pts per $1 = 10,383 BASE Points
10,383 BASE Points / 7* = 1,483 Average Points Per Night
*(replace 7 with total # of nights of the stay within the Promotion Period)

CALCULATION OF TRIPLE POINTS:
Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights (3 nights) will receive Triple Points
Triple Points is always 2 x BASE. Therefore, 2 x (BASE) 1,483 = 2,966
2,966 (triple points value) x 3 (total nights that are eligible for triple points) = 8,898 (total triple points for 3 nights)

CALCULATION OF DOUBLE POINTS:
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights (4 nights) will receive Double Points
Double Points is always 1X BASE. Therefore, 1 x (BASE) 1,483 = 1,483
1,483 X 4 (total nights eligible for double points) = 5,932 (total double points for 4 nights)

CALCULATION OF TOTAL BONUS POINTS AWARDED:
8,898 (total triple points) + 5,932 (total double points) = 14,830

are the incidentals ( meals charged to the room )and parking fees subject to doubling or tripling? Are these included in the calculation of daily average points or is it doubled or tripled if occuring on F, Sat, Sun vs M-Th? I have received different answers from the DD reps.

From my experience, it does. All the expense (in my case dining) on my portfolio was used to calculate "base point".
Which then get tripled/doubled accordingly.

sorry for the double post....i posted this same question on the q3 promo thread as well but then realized this would be a better place to ask the question....

i seem to have gotten far fewer points from my last stay during this promo period....please let me know if i am calculating incorrectly....

i had a 4 night stay with 2 nights falling in the 2x points category (wednesday & thursday) & the other 2 in the 3x points category (friday & saturday)....

the rate for the first 2 nights was €502.80 (excluding taxes) & the remaining 2 weekend nights was €412.20 (excluding taxes)....

the exchange rate would roughly translate the amounts into $647 for the first 2 nights & $530 for the remaining 2 nights....

this means for the first 2 nights i should get 6,470 (base points) + 3,235 (diamond vip bonus) + 3,235 (50% base points bonus) + 6,470 (2x base points) = 19,410 points....

for the 2 weekend nights i should get 5,300 (base points) + 2,650 (diamond vip bonus) + 2,650 (50% base point bonus) + 10,600 (3x base points) = 21,200 points....

this brings the total to 40,610 points....

what i've got instead is 7,119 (base points) + 3,559 (diamond vip bonus) + 3,559 (50% base points bonus) + 10,674 (2x/3x base points) = 24,911....

is my calculation correct or am i making a mistake somewhere????

Obviously, HH has calculated the base points differently than you. Are you sure that the rates paid earn a total of 11,770 base points?

If the total turns out to be 7,119 base points, the calculation of 10,674 bonus points is correct.

Well, it is difficult for us to check the calculation of base points. Anyway, the application of the Q3 promo seems to be correct, i.e. you need to look into how HH calculated the base points.

my understanding is that the base points are calculated at 10 points for each $ spent....on this basis the 7,119 points mean i spent $711.90, which is obviously not correct....either way, i have emailed them so lets see what they say....

got this sorted out quite easily in the end....i had sent copies of my folio to hilton yesterday & they got back to me today....the base points earning including room rate, room service, etc came to 17,587 so i ended up with about 72k points in total for the stay....^^
