LAX, I'm sorry that you had a disappointing stay at the MIllennium Hilton. It's surprising. I would forward a copy of your problems to Hilton HHOnors. they should know fo this.
For my brother Larry U: THIS HILTON AUTOMATICALLY GIVES ME BREAKFAST COUPONS!! SO DOES THE HILTON TIMES SQ.
Jongar: I went to India in May. I have been home since June 1 but I did take my laptop with me.

I stayed at this one several years ago; several observations.
1) Try to avoid a rental car; they eat you alive in NYC, at any place and not just this one, for a daily parking fee $35 and up per day; probably more now. This comment is not a hit on Hilton - its a hit on NYC.
2) This hotel I thought was plush and the rooms above-average quality. Typically small for a NYC standard room, but extra plush. Nice thing about this one, which can also be a drawback to some, is it's in the financial district, tens of blocks south of Times Sq part of NYC, therefore mostly-vacated on weekends, so I'm betting you can get a decent upgrade. Downside is it's always a cab ride to Times SQ/42nd st and Broadway/theater district area. It is within walking distance of a touristy area know as Pier "xx" (I think 57), and tons of botiques and restaurants between that tourist area and the hotel. So it's not toally isolated.
All in all, unless strapped for cash, I prefer to stay more near Times Sq area because of the relative isolation of the Millenium....ie NY Hilston/Towers, Sheraton Towers Hotel (Wed-Fri last week in fact), Sheraton Manhattan, DoubleTree Guest Suites, etc

Just thought I'd report on a recent stay I had at the Hilton Millenium in New York. I got two rooms (unfortunately on two separate folios), one for myself and one for my mom. The junior suite I got cost $112 ($141 with tax), and the standard room was $117ish ($146 with tax). This included a $3.40 energy surcharge.
Didn't get upgraded to a second junior suite for being gold, alas. But both rooms were nice. The junior suite had a little sitting room area, with a sofa and a TV and a chair, but no door or anything. The bathroom was nice. My mom's regular room seemed fine as well.
Getting gold benefits was a bit of a hassle. I had to ask for breakfast coupons, and I still didn't get them, so I had to ask again. It seemed like they were more disorganized than trying to avoid giving me the benefits. The breakfast coupons are for a continental breakfast, which was fine for us. You can upgrade to a hot breakfast for 4 or 5 bucks. I got two coupons for my one gold membership, but I did book two rooms.
As far as amenities, I got a bottle of carbonated water (yuck) and two wafer chocolate mints. That was in the junior suite. Nothing in the standard room.
Oh, and we had dinner at Barbetta's, which is near the theatre district. Fixed-price pre theatre meals (5 courses) are $45-$50. The food was fine, though I'm not much of a food connoisseur myself, and ritzy restaurants always make me giggle. ("Look, look, they put a miniature tree in that lady's entree! And look at this decorative drizzle on my plate, tee hee...") Then again, I'm pretty uncouth. I like eating at Subway just fine, but Mom wanted something nice. :-)

$125 MIllenium Hilton Labor Day
Just booked the weekend at the NY Millenium Hilton. With the $172 fare on American and United from ORD (apparently only available on Orbitz), makes quite an inexpensive weekend in the second greatest city in the world (see my UserName for the first)!

The lowest priceline rate we have seen so far on Sheryl's board was $65 + $5 bonus.
Guess Hilton now decided to lower the published rates accordingly... the gap was huge between their rates and the rates people (including me) got on Priceline...

Millenium Hilton NYC status
HH website states that all occupants have been safely evacuated.
Does anyone have a status on this wonderful hotel? Any photo?

There is a picture in yesterday's Chicago Tribune business section, page 3. It looks to be covered with ash and has many broken windows. It supposedly is a New York Times photo, so I presume a picture appeared in that paper also.

My understanding, entirely OTR, is that it is now, presently, stable - at least inasmuch as tests late yesterday revealed.
Remember that the ground is vibrating all the time, however, with the ongoing massive rescue and recovery efforts and I susepect that additional tests will be conducted on a fairly regular basis.

Yesterday CNN had a segment of amateur video which showed the Millenium Hilton. CNN had given a video camera to a rescue worker and asked him to take pictures since CNN reporters were not allowed in the area at that time.
The rescue worker took pictures of the ouside of the Millenium. Many windows were broken. It appearred that letters from the Hilton name were missing. It was covered with the thick dust. Then he walked through the deserted lobby. There were several inches of the thick dust on everything. It was very disconcerting to view this. It is three years since I stayed in this hotel, but the layout of the reception desk and lobby furniture were still in the same positions as I remembered.

Today's CBS Evening News had interior shots of the Millenium Hilton's lobby, bar and restaurant.
Everything seemed to be in place, but covered with several inches of dirt. Power was on and the computer terminals behind the check-in counter were still on and appeared to be working.

I am at the Hilton in Bucharest where the computers start you with a special Hilton site which reports that about 75 windows are broken at the Millenium; it is otherwise OK except for the dust. All employees and guests got out safely. All Embassy Suites employees and guests also OK - nearby.
