I don't think it is global, that hotel does not deserve to be a cat3. I believe the hotel can be had for ~$70 per night.

Can someone also confirm if this is true for Silver and Gold?

For example, a Cat 3 hotel in Chicago for four nights:

Smile Many thanks and Great job.

Thanks to your posts, I was sufficiently enlightened to be able to book a 4 night AXON stay for fewer points than VIP. Also thanks to the Hilton people who worked it out for me.

(For instance, the Washington Hilton website shows, under the "Our Hotel" heading, that this is a category 6 property.) The HHonors website also provides a search tool for identifying properties in a given category within a specified US state or foreign country.

Hilton HHonors has undergone and continues a massive devaluation with some resorts designating and offering only "premium rewards" at values far higher than the hotel category designation.
+1
I was considering applying for a HH or 2 CC to get 100k HH .
Searched for the Hilton Istanbul and it showed room for 40,000 per night. Clicked on it, and it went to 240,000 per night.
WOW

Thanks for all your work .

But overall HH Seems worthless at first blush .
Sounds like a scam to me

As noted above re Waldorf-Astoria Rewards, Grand Wailea is 80K (high season). A VIP reward for 6 nights would be 25% off = 60K.

Thanks for the clarification, I was just thinking that they increased the price for 2012.

Post #4 updated to reassure readers that concerns raised in a recent thread (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/hilto...ging-axon.html) are not cause for alarm. AXON redemption levels have not changed.

I've updated the Points & Money section (post #6) to reflect some unfortunate changes on the Hilton website. (h/t Ric Garrido)

Premium Room Rewards and Room Upgrade Rewards sections have been updated to reflect revised language on Hilton website. (In sum, these have transitioned from the limited pilot program to widespread availability.)

Can we start a list of properties where AXON (and presumably GLON) will no longer apply, since the rooms are all premium designation with (much) higher point redemption levels?
