I could not find an answer for this but I did not read all 12 pages of the thread in detail....
There is a chance that I might want to regain status using the 4 stay MVP route during an upcoming west coast trip.
I intend to register with the program and choose a start date.
Am I required to use MVP rates during stays during the qualification period?
Many of the properties I am interested in do not have MVP rates or there are government employee and/or advanced purchase rates that are more favorable than the MVP rates.
My question is:
If I am registered for the 4 stay status qualifier, and, if I have 4 stays during the required 90 day period at rates other than the MVP rates, will these stays count towards restoration of my status?
Any qualifying rate counts towards fulfilling the MVP requirement. Rooms do not have to be booked at the MVP rate.
I also asked about "once per lifetime" eligibility. There is nothing about this in the T&C. The CSR told me that MVP fast tracking can be repeated "if it is offered to me."

We'll see what happens
Wasn't that a risk given I assume you aren't one of the HH intended targets of the MVP?
Man, I am really glad I decided to try to sign up for this today. It let me sign up and I have 2 stays in HGI's this week and another two for sure over the course of the next month or so. I only wish I had done this two weeks ago before my stay at an Embassy Suites in Tampa...
I signed up for myp rate oct of 2010.
I just got off the phone with customer service(mvp), once you designate your start date you cannot change it if the original start date has passed.
They also told me you have to go through the mvp reservation website to fastrack any hotel stays!
fine print on the bottom of the MVP page-"Once you have selected your Start Date and enrolled in the MVP promotion, changes to the Start Date are allowed provided that the new date is not a date in the past and the original start date has not already passed."
Henryf-you are lucky!! I even tried telling them that someone I knew changed their date but they wouldn't budge.
they would not/could not change the date for me,even though i said I am traveling for 2 weeks end of this month and would be more inclined to use hilton if it was to my advantage!
Seems like they would be interested in re upping me, I guess I will check out better hotel deals with a different chain.
I am not lucky yet...I still haven't signed up. I anticipate doing this in August. BTW, the MVP CSR told me that I do not have to book a MVP rate through the website..any qualifying stay would count towards meeting the requirement. You may want to confirm this.

Send an email to hhonors@hilton.com and ask them if they could enroll you in a fast track program. I would not mention the MVP program. I would also leave out any mention of staying at Hilton hotels only if it's to your advantage, as you mentioned above. That doesn't make you sound like a loyal customer.
Explain to them that you had a previous offer for Gold status but you were unable to complete it. Now your travel plans would allow it and you would like to know if you could receive that same offer again.
Keep it short. Keep it simple. There's no need for a lot of detail. There's still no guarantee they will offer it to you but it's worth a try. Good luck.

I can confirm that they do not have to be MVP stays. My 4 stays were a mixture of MVP & non-MVP rates.

Some Homewood Suites do participate - but it always pays to check the terms and conditions, because some HS require presentation of press credentials - "Press Credentials are required at check in." Presumably, no credos might result in being walked or at least walk-up room costs. All discussed in the existing and current Hilton Family MVP Rate thread. (I used the 0560041604 code at a couple of HS, e.g. Sacramento Airport, another in Florida iirc.)
To search for the term using Advanced Search (search in thread titles only, results by thread, not posts,) you have to enclose "MVP" in quotes to be able to find the term (as with all terms with three or fewer characters).
"Hotel Name and Corporate ID
Hampton®, Doubletree® and Embassy Suites® hotels (use) 0560041604
Hilton®, Hilton Garden Inn® hotels and at select U.S. Hilton Grand Vacations Club® locations (use) N0041604" (Insert these in the "Corporate Code" field; multiple use may drop the first "0" in HH online forms.)
The rate is usually cancellable and 20% below the BAR (Best Available Rate), and often equal to the nonrefundable, advance pay rate.
More of the original intent here, though it's application is much wider (for those in the know).
