Hilton Los Angeles/Universal City Trip Reports and Reviews

I have stayed there several times, including recently, and I highly recommend it.

As a Diamond member, it is one of my favorite Hiltons at which to stay in the United States. Their rooms are clean and well-appointed, with nice views from the upper floors. The staff has always treated me well, although service at the front desk when checking in may be a little slow. They have an excellent concierge level with a great selection of reading material and good food. The restaurant near the lobby has good food and good service. Best of all, their rates are usually not outrageous if you book early enough, but you will have to pay for garage parking.

We stayed in Summer of 02. Diamond upgrade to a corner suite (1500 sq. ft) 3 rooms, 24th or 26th floor, can't remember which.
Awesome nighttime views of the suburbs as well as Universal Walk next door. I think this is a great centrally located property if you are visiting for pleasure. I would rate this site as being in the top third of Hilton sites.

I stayed there Saturday night (6/21) on a reward certificate (did the reservation & certificate on-line...never spoke to anybody).

The people there were great. As a gold, they put my wife & I on the 16th floor (not Towers, but a nice room with a great view of the Studios, Lakeside CC and the San Fernando Valley). Right after we got to the room, a gentleman brought up a fruit basket with a couple of waters from the GM (Gold benefit, I guess). Went up to the Towers around 9:30 pm to see what was available - cookies, soft and hard ($$) drinks. Never made it to the cont. breakfast.

I would stay there again or have family stay there.

Trip Report: Universal City Hilton "my best stay ever"

Wow Hilton has been good to me lately after a decent award stay in London they followed up b giving me the best stay I have ever had with Hilton.

I stayed at the Universal Hilton for one night as a Diamond and without asking I was upgraded to a HUGE suite on the top (24th) floor of the hotel. By far the best room I have ever had at a Hilton, it was a suite with a large living area a separate Sofa TV area and a office overlooking Universal studios, two bathrooms and a bedroom with one of those nice wooden suit hangers and an electronic shoe polisher. Plus the room had a library with a bunch of books to choose from.
In the morning I got a very large tray of fruits and water delivered to my door, plus the lounge (even though a temporary location) was great and the staff were awesome.
I was treated like a king and when I checked out the staff member said they "even bow to diamonds as they leave". She was joking but i found it very funny.

Sounds like the suite the hotel gave me on my wedding night, nineteen years ago. Presume they have changed the furniture though .

Hotel was not a Hilton in those days. It was the "Regency", or "Registry", or something like that, and had only been open a year or two.

I have always heard great things about this hotel. I have been to many events there, but never stayed overnight. I think it's the hotel where they keep the American Idol people during the first few rounds--just in case you want to know!

And for those marketing folks from Hilton...

Another reason why great service can make a difference. I now know where I will stay when I am in the area. Never would have thought about it if the service had not been so good that the OP had felt a need to post it.

I have an upcoming affair there in little over a week. I understand that they charge $8 for parking. Can anyone who has stayed there suggest if there is street parking nearby? Thanks I feel its gonna be a SOL situation

I would be glad paying $8 for hotel parking. Most of European Hiltons charge you between €25-30 (= $30-40).

I self parked and it was $14 for one night. I don't think you will find any place to park near the hotel since it is right near the park and other hotels, I would imagine free parking is non-existent.

I stayed here last here on September 11th. What a great hilton, Room was spacious and was a quick walk to Universal studios.
I was attending a taping of Ellen and actually managed to WALK to the NBC studios ( Would not recomend walking, took forever!!)

I'm staying at this hotel again in December for two nights, I hope it is as good as last year. I noticed the price is a bit higher!

Will be staying here for 5 nights in March for a conference we are attending -- I hope that the hotel is as good as I have heard it to be.

Recent stay at Universal

Had a two night award stay a couple of weeks ago. Have stayed at this property several times on both paid and awards. Obviously, I like the place.

Even though this was an award stay, we were upgraded to the executive level with lounge access. There was a nice basket waiting for us with various fruit buth fresh and dried, candy, and cookies. The rooms are still fresh and comfortable.

There are a couple of things to note. Depending on what is going on up at Universal City Walk, traffic can be difficult. Also, self parking is $17.00 per day.

The lounge had a nice assortment of fruit and cereal for breakfast. Also had a nice ham and cheese omelet one morning. The evening choices vary but are nice.

Enjoy your stay.

Hi MichaelBOKC,
Thanks for the review.

I will not have a car so will not have to pay $17 ( Super shuttle from LAX) then the metro to Hollywood/Downtown/Long beach ( for the queen Mary) ( after Universal of course! )

Regards
