MIKEM, I just called the hotel #415-771-1400 and asked for general manager, he was unavailable, I explained my request, and was transfered to someone else, I can't remember his title(John, in charge of room). Someone else might be able to give you a better answer. There are 45 floors, I think. Not sure if top floors have balcony, but I would ask for a view of the bay, beautiful! I asked what type of room we had at checkin, didn't like it, and they gave us something better! The lounge is great! Have fun

I'll be there the 12-14 of July. Hopefully I will be able to show the wife that all these Hilton stays have paid off w/ a nice upgrade.

Hi,

I stayed at the Hilton SF twice during June. My comments are below;

Saturday 7th June ( 1 night)
Arr c. 1500
Room Tower 1 3470.
Rate $125

I used the zip checkin/HH Hhonors check in line ( 2nd in line and was soon seen to.)
I was given a welcome letter, directions to the room , a certificate for two bottles of water from the minibar (stick to the front of the bar) and details of the opening hours of the executive lounge.
They were 5-7pm in the evening for Happy Hour/snacks and 6-10am in the morning for breakfast.
There are a number of different elevators in tower 1 ( one for all floors) a few for floors 1-30 and a few for floors 16, and 30-46.
The spa/fitness centre is located in the basement of tower 1.

I got to the room and was surprised and delighted by the size of the room. It is the first room along the corridor ( Rooms ending in 70-82 i think). It was a large L shaped room with the sitting area , a huge walk in closet ( you could put a double bed in there easily) and the tv/mini bar in the L section. The room also had a balcony over looking Tower 2, the pool and towards the city/Oakland bridge.
The pool is in Tower 2 ( walkway from 16th floor) and is fairly large with a whirlpool. The pool is heated, has large towels provided and goes from 3 ft to 9 ft deep.
There is a large sun deck area surrounding the pool and some rooms on the 16th floor in Tower 2 have patio s ( with metal fences between them and the pool area). Pool hours were around 630am to 9pm.
The Executive lounge faces the city on the 45th floor ( great views ) and had free soft drinks, coffee and paid alcoholic drinks and wine. It had a good selection of cold and hot nibbles.

the breakfast selection was good with a variety of continental breakfast selections and a toaster. Although busier than in the evening there were no problems with getting a table.) A couple of people took coffees back to their rooms.
Internet via tv was available for $10 but you can use the tv to check out and type in your email address for an email receipt ( free).
Although close to the elevators, no complaints about the noise.
Ice machines were on every 2nd floor ( floor below mine)

Friday 20th June
Arr 1730
Room 12582
Rate $139.

Check in was equally as quick as my previous visit.
Room was standard for Tower 1 ( no balcony- the balconies are on every 2nd floor)( No l shaped room today) and lower down.
No problems with noise or water pressure. Again got two bottles of water and the executive lounge access ( use your room key in the key card reader just to the right of the door)
Same hours for the Executive lounge.
Went to the Spa $8 per day $18 for three days- free for HH Silver/Gold/Diamond.
It closes at 10pm Mon-Fri 8pm at weekends.
You fill out a registration form with space to indicate HH status ( I had my card with me just in case).
The fitness room is excellent with tv screens on all treadmills, cycles etc with a number of channels ( excellent )It would be very good value for money even at $8 per day.

Good service and food quality at the Executive lounge.
Checkout time was noon ( ideal for my 430pm VS flight back to LHR).
There is a transporter service to SFO every 20mins during the day.
Used TV screen check out and got my email receipt promptly.

Had dinner both times at Intemezzo ( soup ,dessert and soda for $12- pretty good). I did not feel like a major meal after having a lage number of snacks in the Ececutive lounge.

No problems with the immediate area ( did see a few homelss people but no problems). It is close to Union Square ( looks excellent since it was renovated with a large sitting area) , the cable cars and department stores within a short walk from the hotel.

Overall a very good brief stay and would stay there again.

Regards

TBS

Just returned from my stay at the SF Hilton and it was very pleasant. First night stay was on reward points. Check in was a breeze. Got a very nice room with awesome view on 34th floor in tower 1. For some reason, I got a bill for $45 and it was taken care of with one quick phone call.

I checked out for a night to stay with friends and came back for 2 nights. This time i was in tower 3 in a jr. suite. The room was enormous although the view did not compare to the first room. Also the bathroom was rather small. The room was very nice but I would have rather had the smaller room with view of the bay and the larger bathroom. My bill was again screwed up as the rate for my second night was suppose to be lower. Again, taken care of promptly with no hassle and LOTS of apologies by the desk clerk.

Everyone at the hotel was extremely nice and easy to deal with. I really can't say enough about the staff in the Executive Lounge in the morning. On each of the 3 days I used it for breakfast, I literally had my own personal waiter. One of them took it upon himself to bring me fresh cups of coffee from the back - he even noticed that I put skim milk in my coffee and made it for me and brought it to my table. He even brought me freshly sliced fruit from the back every morning. I am not really sure what I did to get such great service, but this one waiter was just incredible. I noticed he was equally accomodating to several other of the guests. I am not sure if it would be appropriate to mention his name on this board, but I actually wrote to Hilton to tell them about what a great employee he is - and I can't say that I have ever done that before.

In any event, my stay at the hotel was great - and the staff was truly great, especially considering the size of the hotel - it seems that in the larger hotels, the staff is not generally as friendly and helpful. It was a very pleasant experience and I would certainly stay there again. It was also a very convenient location.

Going at the end of this month which was booked in response to their mailer offering a rate of $129 and 20% off any of the treatments at the new Spa Fusion and Health Club. Has anyone experienced this?

I received the mailer, and also had received a letter from the GM re: discounts in the spa. It is a beautiful new facility, just a few months old. I have had 3 massages there, one of the therapists (who worked on me twice) did wonders with a really problematic shoulder. The other therapist was ok but nothing special. The gym facility is just about as good as any hotel anywhere, and absent a few more freeweight benches, etc., is as good as any gym.

Would you consider emailing me the name of the therapist you preferred? Thanks.

Geez, I stayed there as Gold a few times & didn't receive any of the stuff you all did. I got a standard room. Now I'm Silver so guess my experience will be the same!

All booked for the "Sancuary" package - three hours of pampering! Can't wait.

Staying there on the night of the 16th and I am a Diamond. Thought I would call ahead to see if I can get an upgrade and the best the reservations person can tell me was that the request is there and Diamonds are usually upgraded. She also said that there is no way she can tell what type of room I will have until check in time. Was hoping for a 43rd floor room without the balcony or one of those L shped rooms described in this thread.

The Sanctuary package sounds great ILuvParis!

Would love to hear about it afterwards. A girlfriend and I have stayed at the SF Hilton occasionally and gone to the Maiden Lane day spa. The pedicures there are terrific but we thought we might try the new Fusion Spa. Your report could help us decide.

I just returned from a four night stay. One of the best overall stays I've had. I'm a Diamond and checked in Saturday around noon. They upgraded me to a one bedroom corner suite with a living room without asking. Was given access to the lounge. Treated very well. The gym is the best I have seen at any Hulton and was free for Gold's and up. All the cardio machines have their own TV's with 50 cable channels. I hope to stay there again soon.

Does anyone know if the Fusion spa is still running any promotional offers, with or without a hotel stay?

Also, will a gift certificate purchase earn HHonors points?

The Hilton web site offers hotel/spa packages. I'm not sure what the details are. You could call them at 1-415-771-1400 and ask. You may try and negotiate something with them, if you don't ask you will never know.

As far as HH points go, I'm pretty sure you will need to stay at the hotel and charge the spa/gift certificates to your room to get the points. We were there this summer and my boss charged dinner at the Cityscape restaurant on top of the hotel to his room. The bill was $1,000, and he was signed up for the double points/book with visa card/Gold bonus promo's. After he checked out he had earned about 25,000 points.
