A lot of weekends listed in the current Point Stretcher lists
Just walked thru the lists by each Hilton property - the vast majority of properties are offering their PSs primarily on weekends. Some properties are through a whole month.
Anyone started to utilize these? What are the better ones you've seen?
As a Diamond, I'm torn whether to even consider using points or simply collect more for use at the higher end Hilton properties. Any others who are thinking this way or is this simply being point foolish?
I found a Saturday night stay at a Cat 5 proprty for 21,000 HHonors points suited my needs perfectly when compared with a current BAR/AAA/MVP of $333/$316/$266.
Hey folks, had booked a couple of PS stays but then decided to check out the paid rates (which turned out to be under $100 for both nights). So I cancelled 'em.
Thing is, this was a couple of days ago and the points still aren't back in my account. What's up?

From my experience doing all of my bookings at hilton.com (actually just did this yesterday for two upcoming stays), you should see the points in your account within a few minutes of receiving the official cancellation notification email. The cancellation just removes the original PS reward deduction from my account history as if it never happened.
Are you sure that you didn't cancel the stay inside the individual hotel's cancellation policy window? This policy can be found near the bottom of the initial reward stay confirmation email.
Thanks, folks. Turns out it was a glitch in the system...
I couldn't get Hilton.com to complete my PS reservation, so I called 1-800 to do it. Apparently whomever pulled the ressie didn't attach it to a specific reward certificate, so when I cancelled the reservation the reward cert stayed in the system.
I called 'em, got the reward cert cancelled, and the points re-posted.
Just an FYI for folks wondering what's gumming up the works if they've had this happen...
FWIW, I just found an award reservation from last April (canc'd more than two months ago) for which I hadn't received my points back. A call (and a few minutes on hold) was all it took to fix the problem. I'll make sure to check the web site a few minutes after my cancellation from now on.
Sadly, the full list does usually get posted until one or two months after the period begins. If you are loooking for a specific property, sometimes they will have their PS available dates on the property website under the "Hotel Specials" tab.

that is BS, is Hilton that underhanded that they don't want folks taking advantage of point stretchers?
So.. for Q1 2011, when would they add the PS's to the Hotel Specials tab? I have a wedding in laval, qc, 2nd weekend of January. When would be the best time to book this? Since I won't be on the property much, I don't really care about a hampton or hilton (seems to be the only 2 hilton properties in the area)
have never seen point stretchers in dubai....but my best guess would be that the only time it would be available there would be during the month of ramadan, since pretty much everything comes to a standstill & tourism & hotel rates are very low during the month....
I stayed at Hilton Dubai Creek back in December 2006 - 3 nights pointstretcher
