Examples of point upgrade and point+cash

How do I find out what properties have these options available? The official website seems to suggest they are being rolled out gradually. Am not planning for any specific stays until next year. But for the places I checked in IL/OH/FL, London, Rome and Shanghai, none of them seems to offer them just yet. I guess I am just curious about how these actually work in real life...

Hilton Copenhagen Airport offered point upgrade rooms. Example is a larger room with a sofabed that would sleep four was 56K points vs 40K for the standard room. So for a family of 4, that would be quite a savings over having to get 2 rooms. But no points plus cash option.

I like to have all these different options but at the same time am alarmed by the lengthes to which they have gone to get the point 'right' for each category - hope it doesn't affect the gold and diamond members' ability to score upgrades without paying...

Some really bizarre numbers. Did they just put the price difference as pay with points to come up with this?

+1

Deluxe room = 4 * HH Points King Room

Who is ready to burn so many points for a slightly better room? probably someone with several million HH points, and if you have such a big amount, very likely, means that you are already HHD and you get the upgraded room for free, or I am missing something here?

Conrad SIN was offered at 20K + $88 SGD. I think that's a fantastic deal as the rooms normally go for 40K or $280+ SGD prepaid/$350 best rate.

Assuming points will be credited for the paid portion of the stay, I like the new options. Upgrades seem to be off the mark though.

Mods. How about a Sticky?

I suggest the Mods start a Sticky so BMs can post places offering points+cash as this program is rolled out. Hilton apparently doesn't want to promote this info with its members so BMs could run a self-help info share until the program is fully rolled out. After its all rolled out the sticky could be closed.

They won't (although incidentals and paid upgrades will count normally).

I hope that at least it counts as a stay, like it happens with rewards.

Thank you Mods for making this a Sticky. I will check it daily to see where points+cash has been rolled out. All I've seen so far is Singapore. Has anyone seen other examples? BMs will really help each other if we post here when we find a property offering points+cash.

Hilton Durban Hotel in South Africa offers points + cash award.

This hotel is a category 3, which is normally 25,000 points per night. Unfortunately or fortunately, depending on your perspective, Point Stretcher Date is available during my stay, which is a cost of 15,000 points, all-in. Given the difference of only 2,500 points, Point Stretcher is clearly the better deal since 274.76 ZAR = $40 USD

Premium room upgrade award at Hilton Durban is also available, but at outrageous prices. Here are the sample prices for June 2011

Standard room = 15,000 points Point Stretcher or $350 USD (2,450 ZAR) / Night

Deluxe room = 125,712 points or $413 USD (2,900 ZAR) / Night

Executive room = 132,214 points or $437 USD (3,050 ZAR) / Night

Deluxe Plus room = 192,903 points or $634 USD (4,450 ZAR) / Night

Executive Suite = 279,601 points or $920 USD (6,450 ZAR) / Night

Terrace Suite = 312,112 points or $1,026 USD (7,200 ZAR) / Night

Presidential Suite = 518,020 points or $1,703 USD (11,950 ZAR) / Night

On dates when room rates are lower, the Premium Rooms' points also drop as well. It seems as though the amount of points required for Premium Room and Suites are linked to the published rates at this hotel. Anyone with a calculator can figure out the points to cash conversion ratio based on the info posted above.
