Doubletree Oslo, Norway no longer Hilton

The first Hilton Family in Norway will open March 2010. The Doubletree by Hilton Oslo City Center now has a page on doubletree.com

Anyone know what hotel this was?

I'm super excited about this hotel! Norway is one of the most expensive and intriguing places in the world (from what I hear). Cat 7 for this Doubletree is not surprising but I still plan on visiting one day.

New Hilton Doubletree hotel in Oslo, Norway

According to Aftenposten (http://www.aftenposten.no/reise/article3545666.ece) the first Hilton in Norway will open shortly. Doubletree by Hilton, Oslo City Center will be located in Stortingsgaten 16 – in the same building as Christiania Theater, straight across the road from Grand Hotel on Karl Johans Gate.

When the hotel opens, there will be 59 single, double and deluxe rooms, all with a view of the "Spikersuppa" park, but will expand to 103 rooms during 2010.

It's obviously a Hilton family brand.

Scheduled to open in March 2010--but not yet accepting reservations....

I stayed at the Hotel Continental, just up the street, last fall - this is a very good location. The express train to and from Gardermoen stops at the National Theater Metro station, which is just a couple block walk to the hotel.

Several Norwegian newspapers are reporting that it will open, and also that the original opening was scheduled for 2008 but delayed by a fire. Opening is said to be "this spring". A press release will be issued next week, according to Hilton, who refuse to make any further comments before that. Articles in Norwegian:

Hilton to open luxury hotel in Oslo

Hilton returns home

Hilton establishes itself in Norway

Yesss! I've missed earning and burning HH points and properties since our friends at Scandic left the fold. Even if Scandic Byporten was not a highlight of my life, it was centrally located (and offered a great breakfast).

Tiny room.

Norway? More like NO WAY, am I right, fellas?!

Also, please refrain from mentioning Paris Hilton. It's a daily struggle for me to try and forget that I --- that we all --- support her lifestyle.

Part Norwegian? I won't be crass and ask "what parts?"

It is interesting Conrad Hilton was Norwegian-American, you betcha. (Apologies to other Scandinavian-Americans.)

Hahaha, yeah, part Norwegian. His father were actually from a farm named Hilton, in a small village outside Oslo. The original (Norwegian) Hilton-family still runs the same farm.....
