Question Hilton.com website oddities

All

Couple of quick observations and questions.

1) the ability to save hotels as favorites is great, but mine keep disappearing... Why?? I know I had sev'l ones saved for months, and now they are gone. Anyone else?

2) Saved rate profiles: if you are a member of AAA, or another rate group, why cannot we save that to our profile to make it permanent? Why should we have to reenter the same information on each logon? HHonors Representative; want to take a stab at either of these? (BTW, thanks so much for being a part of FT, regardless of how you might answer these).

On a plus note, absolutely love the PDF of recent hotel folios - very very helpful when you need to run!

Anyone have any answers to these?

cookies?

SteveinSTL

Is your computer set to clear out "cookies" after logging out?

Cordelli was just being helpful in pointing you to a lengthy thread on the very AAA# topic about which you are questioning.

The part highlighted in blue is actually a link to an existing thread; click on it and you will be taken there.

As CaliforniasCentralCoast suggests, you might try clearing your cookies (in your computer, Steve!) and your cache. Not cash, cache! (Sorry, Steve, I could not resist!)

to clarify...!

Folks

To clarify, my OP brought up 2 issues, and so far we've only focused on one. But to the first one, my point is exactly like the pasted post below from the original thread that was previously highlighted (which I'd already read, and hoped a more current and civil one than that might get the attention of our new Hilton Rep).

I am using Firefox, which does save my AAA number once I start typing the first digit correctly, which the website does accept once I type it in. I also use a p'word saver which has that number in a seperate field. All these solutions, are, IMHO, bandaids to the real solution that is below: Hilton needs to allow in their HHonors profile for each member to save this just like a credit card or email preference. Plain & simple!

On point 2 abt disappearing favorites, the silence is deafening so I assume it's just me? I do have cookies enabled, and they do get purged periodically as part of security. My hunch, although hardly an IT guru, is that my cookies don't save the favorites; those reside on the Hilton server once saved.

Anyhow, I'm reasonably convinced there are no current means of AAA number being saved to profile, unless Hilton changes the website . Please?!

Any way you slice it, Hilton is being extremely difficult with this. I can't remember my AAA number. I shouldn't have to. I have a profile that stores my credit card number. Why can it store that and not my AAA number? Thanks to this thread I now just use 430 in the international field because that's easier. Don't get me started on the Hilton web site. I constantly have to log in. This happens again and again and again. That shouldn't be my problem either. I wonder how much business it's cost them. I'm sure it's cost them a lot...

The favorite hotels are saved based on cookies and are dependent on your machine. They are not saved in the Hilton servers. If you go to use a different computer your favorite hotels will not appear there. I had this happen between my home and work computer. They are not backed up by a database, just cookies.

I will try again.

This has been an issue for years. Hilton has not addressed it, nor will they probably address it if they have not yet addressed it.

There have been dozens of threads about it here over the years, and while everybody pretty much agrees it would be easier if you could save your AAA number in your profile, it's just not going to happen, or at least has not happened yet.

Yes it is plain and simple. It has been plain and simple for years. They have done nothing about it for years.

Same with the multiple login business.

Partial Workaround

I have a partial workaround I have done I'm happy to share with the FlyerTalk community...

I created a "bookmarklet" in my favorites bar that puts my AAA number in the Hilton form when I click it. Quickly, a bookmarklet is a bookmark that is a javascript instead of a web page bookmark.

the javascript is quite simple:

javascript:main.aaaAccount.value='PUTYOURAAANUMBER HERE'

Granted this is nowhere near as convenient as having it saved in your profile, but this saves me a few steps each time I make a reservation.

I have created a webpage to help with the creation of this bookmarklet at http://www.jeffreyn.com/ft/hhonorsaaa.html
