Location : Midtown East 40th Street
Status: 5*
Booked: I (Lincoln Town Car)
Offered: Ford Escape
Went to East 90th street to get it exchanged
Received: V6 Corvette ZHZ
The manager I have a good relationship with was no longer at the location and the rep I usually work with wasn't there recently so I figured I'd go to one of the Prestige Locations in Manhattan. Boy was that a mistake. Lady CLEARLY sees I reserved a Lincoln and offers me a much smaller CUV with NO Leather. THAT is a down grade and yet she STILL charged me $15 for the upgrade. Not only that, I had asked for the Infiniti M35 and said I was willing to pay for the upgrade. She wanted to charge me $50 for the upgrade. Needless to say, I was outraged. I understand if I'm asking to go from a Full Size or smaller to charge me that amount but an I class is a specialty vehicle and as such is close to the Infiniti as it's a K6 and the Lincoln is a I. I took the Escape but I went to East 90th street hoping my favorite rep was there. She was. She told me that I should've checked with her first and she would see what she can do. Presto! Corvette appears. After this experience, I'd rather just deal with East 90th street and pay the upgrade fee through them and call them the day before and let them know what I would like as the Rep on East 40th street was abominable. As if she's doing me a favor by renting me a car.

SAN- reserved a midsize, got a full-size 2010 Chevy Impala with only 3 miles on the odometer. In fact it still had some of the plastic wrapping on the dashboard and on some of the exterior bodywork...

Booked C - received YC (Kia Rondo - OK, so not much of an upgrade, but I'll take anything, since this was my 7th rental as a 5* w/no upgrades).
Reserved Neverlost - received Neverlost and Sirius.

YYZ 11/13 Booked C no options. Option 1: high mileage Impala (F). I noted they were chock full of cars, and a good agent was in the booth, so I go in, asking for a Ford Fusion, as it has bluetooth audio/phone hookups. In conversation, I noted they have Volvo C30/40/50s back in. Drove away in a nicely spec'd Volvo C30 (leather, premium sound, sunroof), and it is a YC (!).
Technically not much of an upgrade, but 1) good to know it is not a special car, and 2) I can push for it when I see one downtown.

Booked: F
Received: initially Toyota Yaris (B). Eventually they found a Chevrolet TrailBlazer (L) w XM and NL. Very frustrating that I had to cajole them for 5 minutes to find me something better.
There sure is a Q class. An old forum post from a few years ago says what's in it. As a matter of fact, my rental agreement from when I drove a Ford Escape cross country classed it as a Q4.
