Here is a Motor Trend comparison test drive from a few years back. The cars have not changed much since then, so the opinions of the authors should still be valid.

Even without the article, Camaro SS hands down.

I've driven both, and also the Adrenaline Collection Mustang GT.

For me, I'd take a Camaro SS.

The Dodge is nice, and if you need to put anyone in the rear seats, it is probably your best option as the back of the Camaro and the Ford is not a place for adults to sit for long.

I published my assessments:

Challenger R/T
Camaro

The Mustang rental was only a few days ago and I've not finished the review yet.

@Red Scorpion:

I am in Las Vegas in a couple of weeks and plan to rent a nice muscle car.

I already drove the Challenger R/T and a Mustang (V6 only).

Choice is Camaro SS or Mustang GT for a day-trip (no luggage). Any recommendations?

I agree. I have driven both of them and the Challenger feels like a much bigger car.

i did a rental from LGB and the rental was a 20133 white Chevy Camaro SS, V8/softtop. I ha driven it to Van Nuys/CA, Las Vegas/NV and to the Zion National Park in UT.

You'll smile when you start the engine...but when you accelerate 'smoothly' youll have a biiiiigger smile............and when you use the shift paddles, you'l have a superbigsmilefromonesideofyourfacetoanother.

Go for the SS - V8 if you can!

Well, you've driven a Mustang already, so go for the Camaro to complete the set.

The V8 Mustang is nice, make no mistake, and if you got one, I don't think you'd be disappointed, but if it was me choosing, I'd go for the Camaro. I think it is an awesome car. I loved the Coupe I had, and the Convertible was even better. Huge smile on my face the entire week I had the convertible (I rarely keep a rental car more than a couple of days).
