Okay, now I'm confused. I just got on the KVR website and they are advertising specials for November 2009. Everyone keeps posting that they are closing September 2009. What's going on?
I guess I would call the hotel again and ask them directly about possible closure and dates. It could be that the tourist travel is down so much becasue of the economy that maybe they feel they need to postpone the renovation becasue of the costs involved. As the people you communicated with made no mention of the closure then something may have changed.
I have no idea, but I would definately call and be very specific in asking about possible closure dates (and about what you have read here) - and then if they say they will be open get it in writing if you plan to have your wedding there!
They are definitely not closing this September. We just returned in May and the talk was that they probably will not close until late 2010 (after the busy Summer season) if they close at all. Even then, they may close for a shorter period of time to rebuild the restaurants and leave the Hale refurbs for another time or do them in phases which would allow them to remain open for that period of time.

Aloha Kakou! I am most likely the Sales Coordinator the bride spoke to at Kona Village. I can say unequivocally that Kona Village is not closing. There were discussions of closing however it has been determined that renovations can be accomplished in small incremental phases so as not to impact the guest experience or our employee's livelihoods. Bridetobe, Did you read the prior posts in the thread stating that KVR will be open through at least 2010? Basically, closure for Sept. 09 was announced at the end of 2008, then re-decided in March 2009...Book it-you'll love it-I can't think of a more romantic, beautiful place for a wedding & honeymoon.
