Just a note if it helps.... They now have procedures in place that you can stay airside when going to/from go! to a mainline carrier.
Mainline to go! -- take the down escalator at the end of the interisland terminal, go through the "tunnel" to the commuter terminal and there is an employee there asking if you're connecting; if so he/she will let you through airside.
go! to mainline -- tell the agent meeting the plane that you need to connect to a mainline flight and he/she will agent show the way to the "tunnel." Take the up escalator, and then go up one more flight to the Wikiwiki Shuttle if you want.
I'm still somewhat confused about the baggage interlining agreements at HNL. Here's my itinerary:
LIH-HNL-SLC-SFO-CDG-PRG
I still have to buy the inter-island segment LIH-HNL. The rest of the itinerary is an award ticket on DL/AF/OK, departing from HNL on DL to SLC. Therefore, I will have two separate tickets.
Which airline is a better choice to fly to HNL from LIH if I want to have my baggage checked all the way to PRG? Hawaiian or go!???

Can't comment on go!, but with Hawaiian, it is easy. Just show them BOTH sets of tickets when you check-in and your bags should go thrugh to PRG just fine

Does not matter. Aloha/go!/Hawaiian all have interline agreements with Delta for your onward itinerary. However, you have a complicated onward itnerary that may be difficult to check your bags all the way through on an interline connection. Because of this, you may consider leaving enough time in HNL to reclaim and recheck your luggage with DL as they'll be able to check it through to PRG with SkyTeam interlining if Aloha/go!/Hawaiian won't be able to do it.
I haven't transferred from the two terminals in quite a while. Is it still the case that you needn't go through security again when connecting between the two terminals? Are boarding passes for your onward flights checked there as well?
You do NOT need to go through security again, simply hop on the Wiki-Wiki shuttle (3rd level) or walk (2nd level) from the main terminal to interisland or commuter terminal.
However, if you exit to street level then you WILL have to go back through security!

Depending on which direction you're headed, you will need to have your bags scanned by the Agriculture department for forbidden fruits and such. When deplaning, be careful where you walk since it's easy to lose your direction and end up leaving the sterile area by mistake. Follow the signs which lead to 'up' escalators for the shuttle, or if you're feeling abit energetic, you can walk between terminals yourself. It's a nice way to get the blood flowing again after a long flight from the mainland.

Thanks in advance.
There are three terminals at HNL: the Overseas terminal; the Inter Island terminal; and the Commuter terminal. I'm going with the assumption that you are referring to the Overseas terminal as the "Main" terminal; and are correctly referring to to the Inter Island terminal - not confusing it with the Commuter terminal; in which case the information given by my two knowledgeable colleagues above needs no further elaboration from me.
If I fly into HNL on a US domestic flight, can I check my bags thru onto my interisland flight (purchased as a separate ticket) at my originating city? I'm not sure yet if the interisland flight will be on Aloha, Hawaiian, or Go!/Mesa.
If yes, is there a minimum connection time between the mainline and interisland flight? Thanks.
And their response:
Dear Jeff White,
Thank you for contacting nwa.com Customer Service.
Unfortunely, due to this being on a different airline you would not be
able to do that. You would have to recheck your luggage in with the
other airline.
I trust the information provided will assist you with luggage
restrictions.
Thank you for choosing Northwest Airlines. We value your patronage and
consider it a privilege to serve your travel needs.

Assuming this is accurate information, looks like I'll be flying either DL or CO. NW actually had a slightly preferrable flight (in terms of flight times and stopover times), but not worth the extra effort to have to claim and recheck bags in HNL.
I wonder why NW has a problem, since 'a different airline' doesn't seem to cause problems for other carriers.

They should be able to with Aloha or Hawaiian (or Island Air), there were signs at the Go counter as I passed by a few weeks ago stating that they don't interline.
Also, for your return, depending on where you're coming from, you have to arrive before the Agricultural inspection station closes for the day in order to check through.
Our return should be directly from OGG on Delta, so not agricultural check problems expected. (Our first destination is Kauai, which pretty much leaves me no choice but to fly into HNL, then interisland to LIH).
I'm leaning towards Aloha, I've never had any problems with them before (flying either CO or DL). The last time I was in Hawaii was 2003, so I'm not sure what's changed since then.

Northwest will interline to either go/AQ/HA at HNL; the information provided was incorrect. Just follow the instructions provided on page 1, and you should be okay.
On the return, no matter what Hawaii-based airport you fly out of, so long as your destination is the Continental U.S., your bags must be screened by the agricultural folks.

I agree with Slippahs. I am on a NW / HA code share flight in early 11/07.
PHL MSP HNL KOA so interlining bags with NW and HA should be no problem.
I did hear back from CO and DL, both require a 75min connection time in HNL for baggage transfer. What happens if my scheduled interisland flight time is sooner than that? Will they refuse the check the bag thru, or just say, "we can't guarantee delivery"? A DL flight I'm looking at would have a 56min connection time, and a NW one 67min.
