slippahs this is fabulous, thanks for taking the time to post all this (and for all your previous posts!)

i'll be flying out of HNL this weekend and I should be allowed access to the Qantas Club with my British Airways silver status.

but i'm actually flying on American to LAX so i'm wondering if it's do-able/practical to go to the Qantas Club (which the map shows is airside, EWA concourse above gate 26) before my flight on AA. I'm guessing that the AA flight will depart from the center gate area of 14-23.

do you have any info about this? do you know how long it would take to walk from the Qantas Club to where AA departs and if i'd have to clear security again?

mahalo in advance!

sk3: Gate 26 is in the Ewa pier of the domestic terminal, which is probably about a 5 minute walk from the central pier where AA's flights take off. You would not need to clear security again. Therefore, it's very doable! Hope you have a great stay at HNL.

Hope this helps!

Thanks!

Great work, slippahs. This will head off lots of easy questions so we can focus on the tougher ones.

A Question and a Thank You...

Before my question I want to thank you for this excellent reference to connecting in HNL...this was so incredibly helpful in planning my honeymoon trip to LIH next Monday. Without reading this I probably would have gone through the hassle of exiting security, claiming bags and rechecking in for the HA flight to LIH. Now we can just spend more time in the President's Club!

Here is my question: We are flying DL BWI-ATL-HNL and HA HNL-LIH, separate tickets. I'm planning on using HA online check-in before we leave and having the bags checked through to LIH as you have written we can do. Is it still possible to check-in online with DL and then just ask the DL agents at BWI to check the bags through to LIH? I want to avoid spending as much time at BWI as possible on a Monday morning...

Thanks in advance for any advice anyone may have...also let me know if my question does not make sense...we were up until 2:00am doing last minute wedding details so the brain is running a little slow this morning. Thanks!

This would probably be a question more suited for the DL boards, however, IME, you should be able to check in on line, head down to BWI and have the agent print you bag tags direct for LIH.

Another point to make here that I have not seen mentioned. Aloha and Hawaiian are notoriously stingy on interisland baggage weights. I think the max is 50# per bag and above that you get hit with a penalty. So make sure if you have two or more bags that you split the stuff as evenly as possible to avoid the 50$# per bag weight limit.

Thanks so much for the great tips here (especially the last one about the weights) - we're going to bring an extra duffel bag just in case.

Can't wait to visit the Islands!

mahalo

thanks for this great info! we just visited two weeks ago.

one note - Hawaiian appears to be charging stand-by fees on all flights now, regardless of fare class. we were on full Y tickets ($210 each) and they still wanted $25 to standby on an earlier flight!

on another note - we wanted miles to post to worldperks - worked for 1 flight (500 + 250 eqm bonus and a segment) but other flight did not post. however, they took our boarding passes as we went down the jetway, so is there any way to retroactively request wp credit?

Thanks for your post, curl. I didn't realize I mentioned standby options for Hawaiian airlines on this thread, but I've gone ahead and fixed that.

It might take longer for the inter-island leg to post, but unfortunately, in order to get retroactive credit from a partner with Northwest, you need the boarding pass stub. Hawaiian usually takes the boarding pass stub to make boarding faster but I always make sure to tear the stub off before handing it to the agent or asking the agent to tear the stub for me. It still wouldn't hurt to give WorldPerks a call after a week or so to see if they can grant you an extension with the ticket number.

Let us know how it goes.

curl: I've had Hawaiian post miles to AAdvantage on the basis of an email identifying flights, dates and FF account numbers. Only took a few days once I made the request.

Slippahs: did you decide to "unStick" this thread?

Confirmed for 8/20-27/05 at Kauai Coast Resort at the Beachboy and 8/27 - 9/02 at Kona Coast Resort 2 ... now all I gotta do is count the days and wait for decent airfare.

I went ahead and unstuck this thread awhile back when there were a few requests to have other threads stuck as well. To avoid clutter, we went ahead and created an introduction with a list of the most read threads on the Hawai'i board. Hope you're able to snag a good rate!

going to try to get credit with a receipt and ticket number.

being a flyertalk addict, i gave them my worldperk number in the reservation, in HNL, in OGG, at EVERY step, to be sure that i was getting credit. in hnl though, they told mr. curl that his number was already in there, so they didn't re-enter it. of course, now he's not getting credit for that leg. but we're going to try to see if they'll take care of it for us without the BP. i mean we had to get to OGG somehow (to be able to fly the return), right??
