Hi all. I'm turning to you for help because I've been exhausted reading endless Tripadvisor reviews... Can anyone recommend any accommodations on Kauai directly attached to a nice swimming beach? Resorts, condos, and simple hotels are all options. Thanks in advance!
There are many condos and resorts attached to swimming beaches in Kauai but the time of the year for your visit will impact choices. We favor Kauai's north shore and go back most years for a couple of weeks on Tunnel's beach. Although we always rent a home on Tunnels beach, the Colony resort is a reasonable choice. The beach extends for just over 3 miles but in the winter months, the surf makes for dangerous swimming but there are spots where you can venture into the water (but not the surf). In the summer it is just fine.

Have you looked at: www.kauairevealed.com you can see and read about all of the properities that you are interested in. If this is your first trip to Kauai you should consider buying the book and their i phone app.

Its a matter of finding deals....
Poipu along the coast has a bunch of hotels right next to each other. In mid-May/June/mid-July you cant see sunsets from here..instead you have to be on the north shore or the western shore.
The Courtyard has its own beach. There are a few other nes right near here.
Many of the beaches in Hawaii are rather small.
In my trip I stayed at the Outrigger in Poipu and the Courtyard.

I've had good luck at Kiahuna condos on Poipu beach. They are mostly 1 bedroom condos with a pull-out couch in the living room. 2 bdrms exist but they are rare. It's a large complex, but it's more spacious than the newer condo resorts. There is a large lawn between most of the condos and the beach. Also, you will find a wide range of pricing, depending on how close to the beach you want to be.
From what I've heard, Aston Islander by the Beach is noticeably nicer than Aloha Beach - but the Lydgate beach that is near Aloha Beach is better.
BTW, Aston Islander by the Beach can be gotten on Hotwire for $76 + taxes and fees ($91 all in) on weekdays. Aloha Beach is can only be gotten for some $10 cheaper a night.
Sheraton Poipu is nicer yet, and you'll be in Poipu, which is likely to be sunnier in early Nov., but will cost around double what the Astons go for, after resort fees are factored in.
Totally second the recommend for Lydgate as a lovely swimming beach. Locals as well as tourists frequent it. Over the last twenty-five years, we've visited Kauai often, and while our condos/hotel stays have been north, east, and south on the island, we seem to end up at Lydgate for relaxing swims every trip. Plenty of critters to see there, too, if you enjoy snorkeling.

Lydgate beach s a good beach
Keisha beach s a large beach if you want to be more alone but it's not a good beach for swimming due to currents. It's a good beach if you want to offroad the jeep in sand.

There are a few hotels, resorts, timeshares, condo's and homes either on the beach or within a five minute walk.
Use the website, www.wizardpub.com. Pull up Kauai and find the tab for hotel reviews. It will show aerial views of hotels, resorts and condo's. You can judge for yourself as to location. Also, like any beach anywhere in the world, some are swimable and some are not. What I consider harmless surf might be rough for someone else (re: living in New England versus living in the Mid West)
