I just noticed that Hawaiian tweaked their policy on transferring status
We would like to extend your Aloha Airlines Elite status on Hawaiian Airlines until the end of this year.
* Ali'i Gold and Diamond members will be enrolled as Pualani Gold members.
Dangit. I was just talking yesterday to a co-worker who had been Ali'i Silver, and when he pulled up the HA page, sure enough it said Gold and Diamond only. I should have caught him last week!

I couldn't find a definitive answer, but it appears that SY's 737-8xx's are probably NOT ETOPS-certified. They lease some additional 738's from Transavia which ARE ETOPS. But as you say, their recent layoff of roughly a quarter of their pilots and the significant cutbacks in their scheduled flights don't make it seem likely they'll be looking to add Hawaii anytime soon.
I saw that Alaska (AS) announced new service to Maui (from Seattle and Anchorage, I think.) Doesn't seem like that will have a whole lot of impact on the rest of the market.

Yes, that's correct! AS has already announced from few days ago begin new nonstop both ANC/SEA-OGG. As for SEA-OGG will became dailies roundtrip both direction and also, ANC-OGG will be operated 2x weekly roundtrip.

Aloha Airlines Chief Executive Officer David Banmiller told Congress today that the company "still holds out hope that an investor would look at resurrecting" Aloha's passenger service....
In response to a question by Sen. Daniel Inouye, the committee's chairman, Banmiller tempered his remarks, saying he was not optimistic that a new investor would emerge given the high fuel prices, an unfavorable lending environment and the continued fare wars in the interisland market.
Does anyone of the elders on this board recall the ticker symbol for Aloha Airlines? Was/are its shares still traded on NASDAQ?
Or was/is it a privately held company?
Oddly, I have now difficulty finding the ticker symbol for aloha.
Thanks, Mandy

Not traded on the stock market. Aloha's been privately held for as long as I can remember. Maybe someone else recalls when they took the company private.

I am sitting at the Qantas Club in HNL at the moment.
I have to say, looking out of the window and seeing all those Aloha ACs parked is a very depressing sight. It is sad to see a piece of aviation history end in this way.

I don't think Aloha was ever publicly traded. As I recall, the airline was originally bankrolled and owned by a group of local Chinese (mostly), the airline got started in part because 60+ years ago the other airline(s) discriminated against non-white people. That's the original reason Aloha was more popular with local people than Hawaiian, and many families stayed loyal to Aloha for decades.
I lived in Hawaii for years, and although I don't live there any more, it's going to be so strange to have them gone from the interisland market. It's almost as if a little bit of Hawaii culture has died.
I was academically interested in the financial condition of AQ because I wanted to compare it to MESA in market value and such parameters. As a penny stock MESA is not likely to continue its current operations without the protection of a B/K court.
AQ, being a privately held company, continues with its cargo operations.
It still has an option to return to "people moving" if the environment will turn favorable. For example, if MESA will file for chapter 11, then AQ may go back to passenger transportation.
I sure miss AQ as a UA partner.
Not to break with this discussion, but I do recall that at one time, AQ was a public corporation that had stocks traded. I also recall somewhere around the late 70s and early 80s that the president or CEO at the time during this public corporation period was Ed Swofford and that Dr. Hung Wo Ching, who was one of the founding members of AQ became Chairman of the Board. I remember my aunt was interested in buying AQ stock because it was trading for .25 a share in the early 70s. Somewhere around the late 80s to the 90s, AQ went private again, perhaps after its accident with the B732 "Queen Liliuokalani". I stand to be corrected on this...
