I'm AA EXP hence don't pay bag fees on AA. I'm going DFW-HNL-OGG and checking bags thru of course
Will i be charged bag fees on the HA segment (HNL-OGG)?

Inter-island air questions
Now to deal with this inter-island flight situation. Are typical rates in the USD $150 round-trip range? I just want to have some general basis to go by. Also, are delays and cancellations ever a problem or do the island airlines operate pretty precisely?

I am moving your question about interisland air travel to the FT Hawaii Forum.
Thanks for your understanding...

Probably more like $130-$150 for the cheapest fares. Hawaiian is fairly good with being on time. I've had many more delays on go! than I've had on Hawaiian, and I've taken a lot more Hawaiian flights than I have go!

Found fares on sale today. Not a huge savings but about $10+ per segment HNL to OGG off their normal rate (seems to be all carriers). I booked for November (next month) and saved about $50 for two RT tickets.

RE: Double-hulled Canoes!
Hey Slippahs!
We had a chance to cruise our Islands with the ferries.......but who chased them out, eh? Guess what they do now....raise their fares. No fair........back to the double-hulled as they rake in the dollahs!

Maybe we should try like the old days and use our double hulled canoes to travel between islands...
But seriously... with skyrocketing prices for neighbor island trips, it's a wonder just how high these prices might go. Is this just a cause and effect of the economy or is this the new "norm" of interisland travel? I think Hawaii's air carriers are in a pretty big jam if they can't break even on their flights. Of course, that's the obvious... but are there real solutions for Aloha and Hawaiian to stay afloat besides raising the cost of tickets? One can only dream about the old days (which was really only a year ago) when one could buy a coupon, phone in a reservation and hop on a plane.
That double hulled canoe isn't sounding too bad right now....
Aloha

HA fare sale interisland OGG-HNL $61
I was on the Hawaiian Airlines website and noticed they had a fare sale for $61 one way from OGG-HNL. Is this a good deal and should I book my flight?
