HA/B6 codeshare check-in?
Does anyone here have experience flying out on a B6 flight (ticketed through HA) and then connecting to an HA flight? Did you check in online, at the kiosk, or with an agent? Did you get the HA boarding passes from the B6 check-in or did you have to get them from a gate agent at your connecting airport?

I Traveled recently on the reservation book through Hawaiian with JetBlue. this was from Boston to JFK, JFK to Honolulu then Honolulu to Los Angeles back to Boston. I use my jet blue true blue membership and also was given a jet blue confirmation code so I was able to check in the night before and the Hawaiian Airlines app and the JetBlue app get my mobile boardingpasses and pay for my bag in the Hawaiian app. My BOS to JFK flight was coded as Hawaiian 2335 or something like that. I got new passes at the bag drop in BOS(mobile ones still worked) my bags checked thru to HNL and I had no issues whatsoever in the process. A few quick phone calls a few days before to both B6/HA confirmed all my questions re: mobile passes/bag costs etc etc. Coming back from HNL-LAX-BOS same thing applied-I had my mobile pass for HA and when I checked bags they went thru to BOS. For some reason I was issued new passes at HNL(can't recall why) but again-fairly seamless procedure. Hope you enjoy your trip and if there's any other B6/HA questions don't hesitate to contact/PM me.

I messed up! Sorry!
That's the exact trip I'm doing, except one way. How did you get the JetBlue confirmation number or link it to your TrueBlue membership if you booked through Hawaiian? Also, once you checked in ahead of time with the JetBlue number, did that also check you in for the Hawaiian flight too or did you have to do that separately?
You WILL have to check in at the airport-bags can be paid in advance thru the HA app/website but because you're doing B6/connecting to HA it will error when you try to check in the night before and won't give you boarding passes!
The TL;DR version of this is:
•Call HA, have them add your B6 TrueBlue # to the reservation
•Call B6, have them find you thru your TB # or HA conf #
•Have B6 assign you a seat or grab an EMS seat
•Enter the B6 conf # info in your B6 app(it may show up automatically)
•Pay your HA bag fees night before and attempt check in via app
•Get to BOS early, check in inside you'll get both boarding passes then
-Optional: If there's room-upgrade to Extra Comfort on HA-it's a long flight!
Here's my full experience
1. Call Hawaiian and ask them to add your TrueBlue number to the reservation
You can only earn for ONE airline! I picked B6 since I'm more likely to travel with them-even though I DO have a HA Miles # It'd take me more trips than I have $ to get even an inter island flight on HA.
2. Call jetBlue and tell them your details-HA conf number/flights you're on(it's handy to look up what the actual B6 flight number is to tell them) and they can look you up and give you the jetBlue conf # for your flight (different to HA)
Also, ask jetBlue to assign you a seat! (I always get EMS seats for ease of security and being at front of the plane-I recommend 5D or F on an A320.)
3. Take this jetBlue confirmation # and enter it in your app on your phone-it WILL show up as a trip(maybe even automatically appear in the app)-HOWEVER you will NEED to check in AT THE AIRPORT for the JetBlue and Hawaiian BOARDING PASS portion.
You'll get an error when you try to check in online/in app: "your first flight is on a partner airline" and on the B6 app/site "Your ticket is thru our partner airline please blah blah OR see an agent at the airport"
Sorry I misstated before-I had two consecutive trips on B6 and I just realized/remembered this now as I was typing. So sorry
What happened when I tried to check in via JetBlue App/on my computer, I was told "this is a flight on a partner airline please see agent at airport" so I had to get to the airport and do it there.
The reason being is HA is issuing your boarding pass so it's HA ticket "stock" and HAWAIIAN'S baggage fees apply because they're the ISSUING carrier.
I paid for my bag on Hawaiians website/app (used the app both ways iirc) and took a screen/printed the receipt.
Went to the B6 check-in/bag drop(inside terminal)in Boston and my bags were tagged thru to HNL and I was given boarding passes for both flights by the B6 Checkin folks.
On my return from HNL, I checked in the night before via the HA app, paid for my bags and got an HA mobile pass for my HNL-LAX portion but I couldn't get my B6 boarding pass from LAX-BOS until I got to the airport.
Again-the issuing carrier is HA and as of now I don't think they've got a way to give you two passes at once on mobile.
Kiosk check in should be no issue I don't think. But I HIGHLY recommend paying for your bags night before and going to bag drop at BOS. They'll get you the boarding passes you need right then and there.
Also, if you haven't already done or considered it, upgrade to extra comfort if you're in economy it's $125 now each way from JFK but it's WELL worth it if you can get into rows 11-13(and 13 does indeed recline all the way) I was in 12J-plenty of room (5'11") free tv shows and it's like a mini cabin!
Aloha and enjoy your trip

Thanks for your detailed reply. I bought the Extra Comfort upgrade since it's such a long flight (this will be my first time flying HA farther than the west coast). I don't check bags, so thankfully I won't have that extra complexity to worry about. It also seems like the mobile apps will be more trouble than they're worth, especially since I won't be able to get all my boarding passes with them, and the fact that the Android version of the Hawaiian one has horrible reviews in the Google Play Store, including stories of losing boarding passes at the last minute (eek). I'll try the kiosks first, and go to the check-in agent if that fails.

You're welcome!
You shouldn't have an issue with the kiosks at all imo-it seems as tho people here haven't.
As far as the mobile apps-I've always taken a screen shot of the boarding pass JUST in case.
So Glad you got extra comfort you'll enjoy it! I personally can't wait to fly in row 11! Which seat/row did you get for the extra comfort? And when is your trip?

I called HA and got my Jetblue confirmation number. However when I entered it into the Jetblue site, I could see my reservation, but it wouldn't let me change anything. However, for anyone else doing this: even if the Jetblue site says that your reservation does not allow you to pick seats, just give them a call and they'll be more than happy to do it over the phone.

Row 12 aisle. Would have preferred window, but this was the last Extra Comfort seat available. Row 11 seems like it has a lot of legroom, but even if it were available I would have passed on it since there's no floor storage for personal items.

Cranky Flier had a post on this here where you can see his and his seatmate's bags underneath in front of them.

Here's a shot of the pic from Cranky's site(all rights to him of course)
My apologies if it doesn't work... Ive been trying to post a bunch of pics and I haven't been able to thru my iOS devices...

Your trip should show up in the B6 app as well! Glad you got the seat assignment from them-did you get your TB # put in for miles as well?
IIRC-you're coming to BOS? If you need any touristy advice or a hook up for city tours/directions or anything at all please don't hesitate to PM me-I worked for years in the ferry boat/Duck Tour/Whale watch industry and I have a ton of friends/contacts who are always willing to hook visitors up with a Duck Boat Tour or a Whale Watch(although imho Maui is a much better whale watching spot!) take lots of pics of the plane and seating! There's not a ton of info/pics out there about extra comfort from the "review" type side other than what cranky flier posted and a 1:30 YouTube clip!

Thanks for setting me straight on row 11, I'll definitely try to book that next time. One question though, since the seating goes from 2-4-2 in coach to 2-2-2 in first class, is there enough room under the 2 middle first class seats for the 4 coach passengers behind them to store their stuff?
I decided to credit my miles to my HA account instead of TrueBlue since I fly HA more often. I can earn HA miles on B6 for my mainland travels.
About the Boston tourist stuff, thanks for the offer but I am visiting family and from there myself so should be good to go.

The FC seat should be right in front of you if you're on the aisle... It's the two middles that may have to go up top iirc-or you can try and get it(assuming it's not huge) under your seat in row 11. For example-my "personal item" is my laptop bag fairly flat-usually has my iPad, Chargers, airplane geek magazines and charts for the airports I'm flying to etc-that would be flat enough to go under either behind or under in front in row 11.
Good call on the miles-I WISH I could fly HA all the time but alas... My dreams of living in Hawaii are on hold for the moment :-(
No sweat on the touristy stuff-I always offer folks to take advantage because we like it when folks go back and tell people that Bostonians are friendlier than New Yorkers ;-p Enjoy your trip! Don't forget to send us a trip report afterwards!

web checkin with operating carrier of first flight
Checking in for flights tomorrow...HA web site directed me to B6, since I'm doing code-share flight SYR(B6)JFK(HA)HNL. I was not able to pay baggage fees online through HA site. I'll do that at the Syracuse airport tomorrow.
B6 web checkin issued boarding passes for both legs.
When I tried earlier in the morning, HA web site said "try again after 5:36am", but it was 10am EDT. HA site must have thought the 5:35am departure from SYR was in Hawaii time, not EDT!
