I posted this a few months ago with little fanfare. However, this continually happens to me. Why is it so difficult? If you and a friend stay at Hotel A in Room A and Room B to get two credits for the stay (1 for room A and 1 for room B)? Every time I stay at Hilton they are GREAT about crediting me for my room. But it is an absolute act of congress to get credit for the second room. Why must I fax my stay for the second room over and over and over and over again?
Honestly, I have had it.. Marriott says that they guarantee that both rooms will be credited. Why can't Hilton just do the same? Why is this a source of endless frustration???
Does anyone have any similar experiences? Any solutions (except faxing statements). It is clearly in the rules about getting credit for both rooms. Thanks and I do appreciate it!
I always think it's line rebates when you buy things. Sure they will give you the benefit (stay credit, cash back) and sure they could do it right away (lower the price of the item), but they know many people will not go through their hoops and they won't have to issue the stay credit or cash rebate.
I have never, not once, had two stays post correctly.
Hmmm. Did you reserve two rooms, or just try to put it on one portfolio at checkin? My experience is limited, but when I book two rooms and pay for two rooms I get points for the entire bill. But only one night per night and one stay per stay (as it should be).

You need to have both rooms on the same folio. You can get points for two rooms but only one stay credit. Just pay for both rooms on one bill and the problem should be solved.

I've booked 2 rooms on the same reservation on 2 occasions recently and when I get to the hotel, the staff has broken the single reservation into 2 seperate room folios. When I asked at one hotel, I was told I would receive credit anyway (wrong) and when I call, they give me extra points for the second room, but not another night or stay credit. Seems like the process for handling this is a bit inconsistent.

When you have two rooms on the folio, you're not entitled to double stay/night credit - just the points on the second room. I fail to see how this is inconsistent, when they followed HHonors T&C to the letter.

I agree with the others. I booked 3 rooms last May. They said I could get one stay/night credit but could get points on two of the rooms. I did have to call, because they only gave me points on one of the rooms.
It wasn't too painful. My guess is that it doesn't fit nicely into their computer system.
I've gone through this the last four times I've booked two rooms (always both rooms at the same time, on my account, via the website -- so they KNOW I've got two rooms coming!), the most recent last month. It doesn't matter which hotel or whatever -- the two rooms don't post. I pay with my credit card. It's a single confirmation number. The folios have the same number and are labeled "A" and "B." But no credit ... there should be an easier way then just faxing it over to them or something. It's a real hassle. At least they could e-mail it or something. The points do post quickly, at least. But what a pain.
Have only done it 2 or 3 times, but always booked all rooms together and paid (single folio) together. Have gotten 1 stay credit and points on 2 rooms every time.
Despite following procedure perfectly, I always have a problem with stays of 2 rooms on one folio posting correctly. I always have to fax in the folio (often several times and with several follow-up phone calls) to get proper credit. I can't understand why getting credit is so hard. I find I have to fax the folio about half the time on normal one room stays to get proper credit. It's not a big deal, but it is a hassle I could do without.
Does anyone have any experience with booking two rooms at the same hotel (though in this case its really the HHV and the HGVC) and trying to get two stay credits. My wife and I merged HH accounts so I’m wondering if she can have a reservation and I can have one.
My profile still has only my name on it so I figure she could book a room over the phone to have her name on it.
Think it will work?
We’re going to try anyway since we need the second room. The res at the HHV will be Feb 28 – Mar 3 and the res at the HGVC will be Feb 28 – Mar 4 so they won’t be identical.
I was able to do this once about 4 years ago at believe or not the SEA Hilton.
Basically I made one reservation each in my wife's and I names ( like you we have a mutual) one did not post so I called HHonors and got a CSR to post it. That was when they would accept missing stay data over the phone.
Tried it once more 2 years ago at the Riverside NOLA and they combined the two folios, as it turned out I did not need the additional stay for elite qualifications so I did not pursue the matter further.

We too have a joint account. When the reservation needs to be in my spouses name it is possible to book online. When the screen appears showing the name and details of the reservation you just simply place the curser and change the first name.
The reservation will e-mail a confirmation with the correct name.
