Hi--I know this has been covered before, but couldn't find on a search.
Whats the policy for giving credit when we book 2 rooms. We have a mutual fund account, but Mr. luv2go name always comes up when we book the stay and give HHonors #.
We just had a stay at HHV, and had 2 rooms; one for us and one connecting (booked on same res) for kids and grandma--only one room's worth of charges is showing up on account activity. I would only expect to get credit for 1 stay towards status, but would certainly want credit for the room rate and charges posted to other room. Anyone know the rules? Also we stayed 3 nights--do we get credit for 3 nights stay or 6 nights (3 nights x 2 rooms) Thanks!!
I ran into this once quite a while ago; unfortunately I didn't read the rules and when I realized why I didn't get credit for the second room I couldn't convince Hilton Honors to make an exception and give me credit for the second room. The key is that both rooms MUST be on the same folio.
From the Hilton Honors Terms and Conditions (http://www.hilton.com/en/hhonors/terms.jhtml):
4. You may earn Base point credit for up to two rooms per stay, if all eligible charges for both rooms are paid on one folio. Base point credit will be earned for all eligible folio charges incurred on both rooms. Bonuses issued on Base points or total folio charges, including tier bonuses (15%, 25% or 50%, depending on member tier) and double or triple Base point promotions, will apply to the total Base point credit earned or folio charges incurred for both rooms. For any other bonuses, including HHonors partner bonus points and other promotional bonuses, bonus points will be awarded on one room only. You will receive only one stay credit (including credit toward HHonors VIP tiers), and only one mileage credit will be earned.
One thing I find interesting is that the rules clearly state that (as long as everything is on one folio) you get point credit for both rooms (including elite bonuses) and you get only one stay credit but the T&C's don't address room night credit.
If your charges were on two folios (as I suspect they are) then try calling HHonors and see if they will give you credit for the second room. Good luck -- I couldn't get them to budge but these days times are a bit different and maybe you can get the credit.

Having been unsucessful in locating the answer on the Hilton website, I was wondering if any of you HHonors gurus knew if one could earn points for multiple rooms, and if so, how many rooms.
On a recent stay in New York, I paid for 3 rooms, my name was on all three folios. One room was mine, the other 2 were for co-workers.
Under Accrual of Points (Paragraph 4) in the HHonors Terms and conditions it states that Base point credit can be earned for up to two rooms per stay if on the one folio
Your milage may of course vary.

You are entitled to points for your room and one other. The third room is a goner. You don't say the status of your points posting, so I'll assume none of them have posted yet.
On three separate folios, it is likely the only one of them (the one which you, yourself, actually occupied) will get credit automatically. In that case you need to file a missing stay credit with Hilton for a second room, explaining your request in the comments field at the end.
Caveat: I ran across the problem that the system gave me the requested credit after I submitted such a claim. HOWEVER, in a slightly lower amount. I called customer service: the rep explained that the system had deducted the tax rate from the base $$ rather than deducting the tax from the net total charges. She adjusted the points correctly while I waited about two minutes.
Pay attention to this possibility after the computer adjusts your total stay points.

I recently booked 6 rooms at an Embassy Suites in San Diego for 4 nights each. After looking at my HHonors statement after the stay (over $3500 in charges), I noticed that only 1 room's stay was credited. In writing HHonors, they told me that a maximum of two rooms would be credited to an HHonors account. Since my wife and I have a mutual fund, I'm thinking that if this is the rule, that i made a mistake combining accounts when we could have each booked two rooms without penalty.
This 2 room policy seems counter productive to me. Last December I booked 8 rooms at a Marriott property in Florida. All of those room stays were credited.
I looked on the Hilton website and did not see this two room limitation. Any thoughts on this matter would be appreciated.

I am planning an extended vacation with family that will have us away from home for 2-3 months. We will be moving around a lot through the US, UK and Europe. I am currently HH Diamond, but by the time we make this planned trip next year that will have lapsed as we no longer use Hilton for stays in Australia - just when I travel OS.
We will require 2 rooms at most places we stay (my wife and I, her parents, and our three children). If I book two rooms using my HH account, will I receive the credit for 2 night and/or two stays towards HH status each time we stay?
Or am I better off signing my wife up as well, so we can put the two rooms on two separate bookings/memberships and each earn status with Hilton?
We expect to use establishments like Homewood Suits mostly, making the most of the kitchen facilities and breakfasts to keep our livings costs bearable so we can do more sightseeing and stay away longer. Then by the time we get to Europe we can be cashing in the points I already have plus the ones we earn while in the US on the first leg of our vacation. And if we can earn some status as well it might help when it comes to award stays at the expensive European places like London and Paris.

You will receive points for two rooms provided they appear on the same folio (you may still need to fax a copy to HH as not all properties properly process this), but only one stay credit and only one set of airline miles.

That might be a good idea, as you (as a team) will earn twice as many stay credits and twice as many airline miles. After the trip you can combine your accounts into one (set up a Mutual Fund account), and have twice as many stay credits towards the status.

I'm not sure how experienced you are at getting award stays, so you may already know this: BOOK EARLY to avoid capacity controls.
Now that you can redeem awards on the web, meaning the points don't get deducted for the issuance of a cert every time you make a reservatoin, you can make multiple reservations that as a whole represent more than your current account balance. This way, you should be able to book numerous award reservations well ahead of time, then use the ones you want and cancel the others -- just be sure to keep really good track, or you could get charged for missed cancellations.
Also, I like your idea of splitting the paid stays up with your wife, and then Eugene's idea of combining into a mutual account. Since you'll be getting a lot of points and miles, you may wish to take advantage of the Aero California extra miles. (Warning: I've yet to confirm Aero Cali's reliability. I will follow up, but it may take until sometime mid '03 before I have enough miles to attempt an exchange.)

Thanks for the tips. With QF FF program, I (we ) will get 1000 QF points per Hilton stay via double-dipping, and I also get 700 points per Avis/Hertz/Budget/Thrifty car rental. So looks like no real benefit in the Aero California deal.
Looks like I sign my wife up and scoop two stays that way. What is the deal with a Mutual Fund account? How does that work and are there restriction on how it can be done?
I guess we can only hope for another INTU or similar 50K promotion while we are touring and retain separate HH acounts! I guess I should sign her up now before October and get the 1000 bonus points for this quarter's account details update!

Sign her up and get the bonus points, then call Honors and use the Refer a Friend or Get a Friend or whatever they call it. It somehow ties her account to yours so that when she has a stay YOU get some extra points for it.
