Bachelor Party in Las Vegas - Signature at MGM / Palms Place / Etc

Hi everyone,

I am having a major struggle trying to decide on a hotel/resort in Las Vegas for a bachelor party in June. We will be having between 12 and 18 people, all-in-all a pretty rowdy bunch (i.e., the guys with wives/children never go out, so this is their one chance a year to go crazy, and the single guys are consummate partiers/alcoholics).

We are looking to go down the route of having a large suite that can hold all participants ('hold,' but not 'sleep' the whole group, considering the suites sleep b/w 4 and 8), so we are interested in booking a place like a 2BR suite at the Signature @ MGM or a 2BR suite at the Palms Place. This would act as sort of a "home base" and we would use it to congregate before events, and to host late night events, etc.

Any suggestions on either of those properties? My initial inclination is to go with Signature since it is (sort of) on the strip and it is at the mgm (the wknd we are going is the same wknd as the Pacquaio fight). Downside, I have heard, that it is more of a family setting and late night partying would not fly. Is that true?

For Palms Place, I am concerned about it being a 'cab ride only' thing to/from the strip, but understand that Palms is a way more "young adult" friendly environment (there shouldn't be an issue with ppl being up until crazy hours partying, etc.).

Are there any other places, similar to what I described, that I should consider? We like the idea that Palms Place and Signature are relatively low-cost, considering the living space. I have seen suites at the Aria for like $1500/night, which we do not want to do.

Really appreciate any help or guidance.
Thank you!

Nick

Signature really is the "mellow" hotel over there in MGM-world. It's marketed as business-traveler-friendly and probably low tolerance for rowdiness. People book there specifically because it has no casino. Probably not the best place to go whooping it up--- even if no one complains, that's incredibly rude to disturb the guests who specifically picked a "not-Partiers-friendly" hotel by having a loud crazy party.

Have you looked at the other MGM hotels: NYNY and Monte Carlo cater to a young crowd but aren't generally as skanky as Luxor has become. Unfortunately they're often pricey when MGM is full. Excalibur tends o be cheapest of the MGM family but may be too downscale if you're considering MGM/Signature.

You are right that the Palms will be quite remote.

Thanks for the feedback! I have done some additional research and it does seem like the Signature is not a party friendly hotel. We have also started to consider the PH Towers, which is in the heart of the strip and still has the sort of young vibe to it (trying to find out more on that)

I just wish the Palms was closer to the strip... seems like a good scene for this type of function.

Again, thanks for the feedback...

I have stayed at the Palms and Rio both and it was never a big deal to get to the strip. If you stay at the Rio there is a shuttle that goes every half hour from the Rio to Harrahs which is center strip. The Palms you would have to do a taxi unless there is a shuttle now, there wasn't one a couple of years ago. The Palms is a really nice hotel and I loved it there. It was worth cabbing over to the strip stay there. Rio is an older place but I hear they have been renovating it, I have had unbelievable fun at the Rio Martini bar.

Another suggestion I have is Mirage, I have been staying there on the weekends for $69 a night. They have recently renovated and for $69 a night the rooms are cheap and nice. The Mirage is in the middle of everything. They also have suites that start out at $450 a night and go up from there.

Here is their webpage showing their suites.
