Montreal

Went to Montreal for a three day weekend. I was totally suprised. Much more going on than in Washington, Philadelphia, New York or New Orleans. During the summer they close the main gay street to traffic and turn it all into sort of an outdoor festival.

The bars were hopping, and you could find ANYTHING you wanted. The bar The Tunnel was packed from wall to wall. The sky complex is huge with about 6 different bars ranging from downstairs to roof top to dance clubs. Prices were very reasonable and there are many, many Guesthouses that are very reasonable. Food was great. All in all it was very festive, and not far away. No attitude, lots of fund, everyone as friendly as could be. Lots of other stuff to see too. I've been around the block once or twice, and I was very impressed with Montreal.

I'll be back.

I was in Montreal during 4th of July weekend and I had a terrific time! It reminded me so much of Europe and especially Paris. Try to speak french (as I did) and win over hearts and more...
I totally agree with saint82; bars are hopping and everyone as friendly as can be. I met this totally cute Canadian guy and we talked about things I could never have discussed with my American friends. Who the hell knows about the "eurovision songfestival" for instance, or likes Edith Piaf and Frida Boccara.

Man, I was in heaven! After "Le Stud" we went to "Tunnel", holding hands on the street :-: something I haven't done in 5+ years... We kissed for hours.
Well, I spare you the other details, but I definitely want to go back.

Best Gay Place to Stay?

Any recommendations? I don't think Montreal has any all male gay resorts. C'est vrai?

We stayed at "Le 3 Mai"

It's a gay place and was great. The host is the best with all the great information. But on pinkchoices.com there has to be twenty gay guest houses listed.

Montreal is as fun as a European city, and that is saying a lot.

And yes, I have been around the block, once, twice, maybe even three times.

I like the Delta Kennedy which is not in the village, but sort of at the end of it. Not a gay hotel, but in the past they have been the host hotel for events like Black and Blue. (The other Delta downtown is also nice but a little far from the village unless you plan to do some a lot of shopping. In that case, the Sofitel is a nicer downtown hotel and you can get a good rate if you shop around.)

I totally agree, Montreal is fun. It's got the European appeal and attitude. I love it. I need to go back soon. Who's going with me?

I have been going for around 9 years now.
Up to a few years ago 2-3 times a year.
Now the CAD is about on par with the usd and airfares from LAX are reaching $700 ai.
So-as much as I love La Belle Province I fear it is a once a year ocassion.

Anyway I was in Montreal last weekend as well, although did only take part to gay related activities on Friday night. This was my first time to YUL so I decided to check out all the sights and museums and was so tired when I got back to the hotel that I just passed out.
