I stumbled upon a great bar in Tokyo called "Bar Bridge", although some folks call it "Bridge Bar". It's located in the gay district of Shinjuku Ni-Chome, but kind of off the grid, nestled on a residential street and on the top floor of what appears to be an actual apartment building.
The bar is small (typical for Tokyo), but it's slick and polished inside. Beautiful bar counter and not much else. It also has a smoking terrace. The owner is a huge Broadway musicals fan - he travels to NYC twice a year to see shows. He'll often play showtunes or the Glee soundtrack. He also serves everyone a small container of candy.
It's a cozy, inviting bar with really good wine. It's quiet, the music is kept at a minimum, and almost all locals. I went there twice during my recent Tokyo trip, once with a straight friend and he really liked it, too.
So rumor has it, Rawhide in NYC on 8th Avenue will be closing at the end of this month. Some will miss it, some won't - I miss The Lure and Spike, and even The Break which is now some Thai restaurant. Maybe I need to move on, too, lol. Chelsea's suburbanization is almost complete.

Speaking of NYC -- I'll be there in the summer. What's a good bar / club to go to?
