I'm going to be staying at that hotel in December, would you mind sending me a trip report on your experience there?

Sure thing. i'm only Marriott Gold so if your PLT, YMMV. The reviews are ok, nothing special but I'm not in MAD for the hotel.

I'm Marriott Nothing so no worries. Like you I'm not there for the hotel, I want a good location, decent breakfast (included with my rate) and comfortable bed.

November
A wee little midweek Lisbon city break
9th: BA (Y) - GLA-LHR-LIS (including ~5hr LHR transit to undertake T3 lounge hopping. I'm thinking to check out the AA Flagship Lounge first, then CX Flounge for noodles and a shower, then BA Flounge for Taittinger Prelude)
12th: BA (Y) - LIS-LHR-GLA (~4hr transit to relax and have quite a few glasses of Taittinger again)

December
A very close family friend's university graduation.
8th/9th: BA (Y) - GLA-LHR | AA (Y) - LHR-MIA | JJ (Y) - MIA-CNF-CGH
15th: AA (J) - GRU-MIA (12 hour layover in Miami - any suggestions on what to do?)
15th/16th: AA (J) - MIA-LHR | BA (Y) - LHR-GLA

I stayed here for an overnight in the spring and was pleasantly surprised. The area is no great shakes and maybe a bit far from nightlife... but the hotel itself was nicer than I expected (particularly for something near a train station).

A friend from the US travelling with me found the see-through shower arrangement a bit uncomfortable. Didn't bother me though

Thanks for this, I figured it was a bit far from Chueca but with free night certs to burn I thought it would fit the bill. It looks like there is a metro close so that will be nice.
And hopefully any friends I meet wont mind the see through shower.
