I have 7 hrs of layover in MUNICH!!!!!!
Do you guys think that it would be worth to go to downtown Munich during my 7 hrs of layover? I will be traveling with my 5 year old. Based on what I read previously, the ride to downtown takes about 40 mins-1 hr. So I will be spending 2 hours on the commute. Then another half an hour so at the security check and passport control.
Has anyone had that much of a layover in Munich?

Its perfectly doable, if your 5 yr old is fit and willing. Just buy a airport day ticket, sit in the S8 or S1 and go downton, which is right above the 'Marieplatz' station.
If the child is not really fit, you can explore the airport itself: https://www.munich-airport.com/at-the-airport-260393
If you want to just sleep, the on site Hilton sells dayrooms and two hour passes to their pool/spa area (kids welcome): http://www3.hilton.com/en/hotels/bav...spa/index.html

Definitely go downtown; the subway is a very pleasant and civilized way to travel in MUC. There are great chocolate shops and even one store dedicated to gummy bears. The center of town is walk-able and there is a nice river front trail and the famous English Park
