New Total Rewards Visa offers Platinum Status
the new Total Rewards Visa offers automatic Platinum Status

Personally, this isn't really much of a benefit,
but this is FlyerTalk; and people often do ask if there is a fast-track to Caesars Entertainment Platinum or Diamond.... and this is definitely the least expensive way (with no gaming) to achieve Total Rewards Platinum Status.

I can see the benefits of it - free parking, some platinum check in lines and cutting of lines, etc. I have even seen valet restricted to Platinum and up at certain casinos at certain times.
The offer looks like it is free platinum + $100 after 1K of non-casino spend + $100 of buffets in Vegas, which is not terrible for someone starting with no status that is not likely to accumulate it quickly but is going to be staying at a CET casino a couple of times in a year and has 1 upcoming trip to Vegas.

I just got the offer as well and will apply for it. For no anual fee, a card that gives a decent reward bonus with fiarly low spend, 5X spend @ TR properties and automatic platinum if you don't have it isn't so bad. I usually float between Plat (useless in AC) and Diamond but it's nice to have a buffer.
Can anyone tell if the annual fee is always $0 and gives plat status as long as you hold the card?

What I don't understand is why they bother soliciting their best customers (Seven Stars and Diamond) with this. I guess some Platinum players will like a buffer as you say and people who don't play much might like being Platinum (but if they don't play much they probably won't get much use out of it) but I don't see what would make it worth it for Seven Stars and Diamond players. Am I missing something?

The Platinum status will exempt you from the new Resort Fees at harrahs properties. so to me that's a big plus because a "free" comped weekend now runs $60+ with the resort fees.

It's not clear whether you get permanent platinum status or not from the offer:
"When you receive the Total Rewards Visa card, you will automatically receive an upgrade5 to Platinum Tier, or maintain your Platinum Tier status for the next year"
Is this a one time upgrade thing? Or do you get platinum for the lifetime of the card?
